Earlier this month, a federal judge in the Southern District Court of New York ruled that four Americans who visited Julian Assange in the Ecuadorian embassy in London may proceed with their lawsuit in which they sued the CIA for violating their 4th Amendment right, which protects all Americans from unlawful searches and seizures.

Staff members of the embassy’s security firm, UC Global, were instructed by the CIA to spy on Mr. Assange and all of his visitors.

Israel Airstrikes Target Damascus Airport, One Day After Reopening

Israeli airstrikes are ongoing, more explosions were registered at Damascus International Airport 1723 EST.

At approximately 1513 EST, initial reports indicated several explosions in Damascus, Syria. By 1530 Syrian state owned media reported that Israeli airstrikes had targeted a Syrian army radar site Tal al-Sahn in Al-suwayda.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights announced that Israeli airstrikes had targeted both Syrian military air defense systems at that site and Damascus airport.

It is important to note that the Damascus International Airport only opened yesterday, and the first departing flight after nearly 65 days of repairs from previous Israeli strikes, was an Al-Sham Wings Company plane that flew to Moscow.

China, Iraq Begin Construction of New City Near Baghdad

Iraq’s government seeks to build 15 new cities in Iraq in partnership with Chinese firms

Iraq broke ground on 29 December on 30,000 housing units near Baghdad, as part of a $2 billion project in partnership with Chinese firms to build five new cities across Iraq, Bloomberg reported on 29 December.

The government of Prime Minister Mohammad Shia al-Sudani is seeking to build 250,000 to 300,000 housing units for poor and middle-class families. The new city on the outskirts of Baghdad will include universities, commercial centers, schools and health centers and should be completed in four to five years...

Contracts to build four more cities are expected to be awarded soon and another 10 will be announced next year...

Chinese firms have increased their presence in Iraq in recent years, in part due to a deal between Baghdad and Beijing.

....China has accelerated its investment in Iraq and other West Asian nations as part of its Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) announced in 2013.

Judge Rules Assange Visitors May Sue CIA For Allegedly Violating Privacy

A federal judge ruled that four American attorneys and journalists, who visited WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange while he was in the Ecuador embassy in London, may sue the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) for their role in the alleged copying of the contents of their electronic devices.

The Americans sufficiently alleged that the CIA and CIA Director Mike Pompeo—through the Spanish security company UC Global and its director David Morales—“violated their reasonable expectation of privacy” under the Fourth Amendment of the United States Constitution.

Richard Roth, attorney for the four Americans, reacted, "We are thrilled that the court rejected the CIA’s efforts to silence the plaintiffs, who merely seek to expose the CIA’s attempt to carry out Pompeo’s vendetta against WikiLeaks."

Biden Complains About Provision That Bans Pentagon From Contracting With Censorship Groups, “Fact-Checkers”

Lamenting a loss of censorship power.

There are few things as jarring as a sitting US administration evoking the First Amendment (constitutional free speech protections) – while the purpose to all intents and purposes seems to be to actually undermine them.

In such cases, the hypocrisy doesn’t simply whisper. Here, it screams. And there have been many such instances over the years.

This is a new example: the Biden administration late last week approved the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for the upcoming year.

One – for an “authoritative democracy,” provisions was that the US Defense Department would not be allowed to contractually work with certain groups, such as by now-infamous NewsGuard, and the free-speech-trampling Global Disinformation Index (GDI) – effectively out there working hard to silence opposition-leaning press in the US.

But then, as soon as the 2024 NDAA was signed by Biden late last week, the somewhat erratic president – or whoever is… advising him – pushed a different story to the public.

“While I am pleased to support the critical objectives of the NDAA, I note that certain provisions of the Act raise concerns,” reads a subsequent statement, signed by Biden.

Excerpt: The Suspiciously Convenient Timing of Covid for the Davos Elite and the WEF's 'Great Reset'

Derrick Broze[@Dbrozenews] wrote an article for The Last American Vagabond in May 2020, featured below, appropriately reflecting on internet censorship as Covid took the world by storm, warning people to not trust the fact checkers, and to not rely on big tech for information as they were in bed with the fact checkers. Broze, like many other independent journalists, American or not, had been censored heavily for years leading up to Covid.

Ironically, Broze highlighted The Mind Unleashed (TMU) being labeled by Newsguard as Fake news because of a story TMU wrote covering speculation that Covid could have been a bioweapon. Of course, that speculation has been validated and repeated by Congress years later.

Derrick Broze’s article was headlined, “This is Why You Can’t Trust the Fact Checkers.”

"Perhaps the most insidious method is the recent use of “fact checkers” to limit the reach of an outlet, or simply brand them with the fake news scarlet letter to discourage readers from engaging.

....In a recent article published in Newsweek Espanol, in partnership with Newsguard, The Mind Unleashed is described as a “site that promises to ‘promote and inspire unconventional thinking,’ but is actually dedicated to publishing falsehoods.”.

The quote was in reference to a story TMU had written about the origins of COVID-19 and the potential for the virus to have been created as a bio weapon.

Newsguard is one of a number of “fact checker” services which has proliferated since the election of Donald Trump to U.S. President."

Broze would continue his article “This is Why You Can’t Trust the Fact Checkers”, pointing to Whitney Webb’s work on exposing Newsguard’s connections to the national security apparatus.

He would point out that among Newsguard’s advisors are the first secretary of Homeland Security under George W. Bush, as well as Ret. General Michael Hayden who is a former CIA director, former NSA director, and principal at the Chertoff group, a security consultancy seeking to “ 'advise corporate clients and governments, including foreign governments” on security matters that was co-founded by former Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff, who also currently serves as the board chairman of major weapons manufacturer BAE systems..”

Broze would write:

“In a previous investigation, TLAV writer Whitney Webb [@Whitney_Webb] exposed the neoconservative roots of the Newsguard team….

Newsguard started as a partnership between Steven Brill and Louis Gordon Crovitz, with Crovitz appearing to be the connection to the world of finance, media, and geopolitics. Crovitz held a number of positions at Dow Jones and at the Wall Street Journal, is a board member of Business Insider, a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and claims to have been an ‘editor or contributor to books published by the American Enterprise Institute and Heritage Foundation.’

As Webb noted, ‘the American Enterprise Institute (AEI) is one of the most influential neoconservative think tanks in the country and its ‘scholars,’ directors and fellows have included neoconservative figures like Paul Wolfowitz, Richard Perle, John Bolton and Frederick Kagan.’ "

Broze would expand on the development of the era of Fact-checking, Contextualizing how in 2018 Facebook partnered with the Atlantic council for fact checking. The Atlantic council which has close ties with the US government, intelligence community, and NATO.

The Pentagon is looking toward a future where the U.S. deploys “super soldiers” directly inspired by Captain America and Iron Man, officials said at a recent conference.

Militaries across the world are trying to give their soldiers an advantage and technology has long played an important role in that. On Wednesday, a group of military and military-adjacent scientists gathered at a conference to discuss the possibility of creating a super soldier. They discussed breeding programs, Marvel movies, The Matrix, and the various technologies the Pentagon is researching with the goal of creating a real life super soldier complete with cybernetic implants and thorny ethical issues surrounding bodily autonomy.

The talk happened at the The Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference, or I/ITSEC, an annual conference where military leaders come to talk shop and simulation corporations gather to demo new products. It’s the kind of place where execs and generals don virtual reality helmets and talk about the virtues of VR sims. You could even catch members of congress talking about the importance of simulations and war. “Winning the war of cognition by pushing readiness and lethality boundaries,” reads the official poster for the 2019 I/ITSEC.

It was here, in Orlando, Florida, where five illustrious members of the military-industrial complex gathered to discuss super soldiers at the “Black Swan—Dawn of the Super Soldier” panel. Lauren Reinerman-Jones, an analyst from Defense Acquisition University, moderated a panel that included U.S. Army Developmental Command representatives George Matook and Irwin Hudson, research scientist J.J. Walcutt, and Richard McKinley, who works on “non-invasive brain stimulation” for the Air Force.
