China Faces 245% Trump Tariff

The White House said China is facing up to a 245 percent tariff on imports to the U.S. "as a result of its retaliatory actions," as the trade war between the world's two largest economies continues to heat up.

The top potential tariff was referenced in a fact sheet published by the White House late on Tuesday. It accompanied an executive order signed by President Donald Trump that launched an investigation into the "national security risks posed by U.S. reliance on imported processed critical minerals and their derivative products."

A White House official told Newsweek the calculation reflects the maximum potential rate some Chinese goods could face, combining the reciprocal tariff, the fentanyl tariff, and existing Section 301 tariffs that go up to 100 percent.

Electric vehicles, for example, have outstanding Section 301 tariffs of 100 percent dating back to the Biden Administration, meaning these products would face a 245 percent rate in total.

'It consumes more than it produces. It has outsourced its manufacturing and borrowed money in order to have a higher standard of living than it's entitled to based on its productivity. 

'Rather than being "cheated", the US has been taking a free ride on the globalization train.'

The article concludes: 'The US should stop whining about itself being a victim in global trade and put an end to its capricious and destructive behavior. 

'Instead, it should commit itself to working with its trading partners to establish a fair, free and WTO-centered multilateral trading system that is in line with the times… Let those peasants in the United States wail in front of 5,000 years of Chinese civilisation,' a senior Beijing official declared this week.

US Considering Backing A Ground Offensive Against The Houthis In Yemen

According toThe Wall Street Journal, the UAE discussed the potential plan with US officials in recent weeks

The US is considering backing a ground offensive against the Houthis in Yemen, The Wall Street Journal reported on Monday.

The report said that plans to back anti-Houthi militias on the ground have been brought to the US by the UAE and that the US is open to the idea but hasn’t made a final decision yet.

The Houthis, officially known as Ansar Allah, have controlled Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, since 2014 and currently govern an area where 80% of Yemenis live. The US supported a Saudi/UAE-led coalition against the Houthis from 2015 to 2022 in a brutal war that killed hundreds of thousands of Yemenis but failed to return former Yemeni President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi to power.

In 2022, after reaching a ceasefire with the Houthis, the Saudis pushed Hadi aside and replaced him with a Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) that includes several different factions. The PLC’s leadership is based in Saudi Arabia, but it is considered Yemen’s “internationally recognized” government.

Factions allied with the PLC have fighters on the ground in southern and eastern Yemen, including the Southern Transitional Council (STC), a southern separatist group. Last year, an investigation from the BBC revealed that the UAE had recruited former al-Qaeda members who joined the STC, including Nasser al-Shiba, an STC commander who is a suspect in the bombing of the USS Cole.

Saudi Arabia Bombs Yemen Border Areas Hours After Intense US Airstrikes

UAE-backed militias in southern Yemen are reportedly preparing a 'ground offensive' against Ansarallah with the support of the US

The Saudi military launched missile and artillery attacks on border areas in Yemen’s Saada governorate on 16 April, according to a report by Al-Masirah TV.

No civilian casualties were reported following the Saudi attack on the historic Ansarallah stronghold. The attack came a few hours after US warplanes launched multiple airstrikes on Saada’s Majz district and the Mefaa Anas district in Dhamar governorate.

On Tuesday, US warplanes launched over 25 airstrikes on the governorates of Al-Bayda, Hodeidah, Amran, and Saada.

Washington expanded its illegal war against Yemen on 16 March in an attempt to stop the Yemeni Armed Forces' (YAF) operations against the Israeli genocide of Palestinians in Gaza, killing dozens of civilians across the country and destroying vital civilian infrastructure.

🇮🇱❌⛑️ Israel Turns Gaza Into a Death Trap — Doctors Without Borders Sounds the Alarm

There are no safe zones left in Gaza. Not for civilians. Not for doctors. Not for anyone. That’s the devastating verdict from Doctors Without Borders (MSF), who are now openly accusing the Israeli regime of deliberately obstructing humanitarian aid and weaponizing starvation, disease, and displacement.

MSF slammed Tel Aviv’s suffocating blockade as collective punishment — a war crime under international law — and declared what we all already knew: Gaza is being systematically erased. “We are witnessing in real time the destruction and forced displacement of the entire population,” said MSF emergency coordinator Amande Bazerolle.

Hospitals are out of fuel. Children are drinking polluted water. Surgeons are operating without anesthesia. And still, Israel blocks aid convoys at the border, bombing food warehouses and targeting the very ambulances and clinics that remain.

So let’s be clear: This was never about self-defense. This is a slow-motion genocide, carried out with impunity under the rotting umbrella of “Western values.”
