Israeli Military Now Controls More Than 50% Of Gaza’s Territory

An Israeli soldier said the IDF created a 'kill zone' where anyone approaching would be shot, including women and children

The Israeli military has rapidly seized land in Gaza since resuming its genocidal war on March 18 and now controls more than 50% of the Palestinian territory and has created “kill zones,” The Associated Press reported on Monday.

The most significant piece of territory Israel controls is a so-called “buffer zone” along the Gaza-Israel border, an area where the Israeli military has demolished buildings and agricultural land to make it uninhabitable.

The buffer zone was initially cut about 1 kilometer into Gaza’s territory, but since March 18, the IDF has significantly expanded it and is conducting more demolitions. Some parts of the buffer zone now push as far as 3 kilometers into Gaza.

An Israeli soldier deployed with a tank squad guarding a demolition team spoke with the AP . “They destroyed everything they could, they shot everything that looks functioning … (the Palestinians) will have nothing to come back, they will not come back, never,” the soldier said.

The soldier said that Israeli bulldozers flattened land to create a “kill zone” and that anyone who came within 500 meters of the tanks would be shot, including women and children.

⭕️ According to a report by Middle East Eye (MEE), Turkiye and Israel are in talks to establish a deconfliction line in Syria following Israeli airstrikes on sites including the Tiyas (T4) and Hama airbases—locations where Turkiye was preparing to deploy drones and install a layered air defense system.

Ankara had planned to take over the T4 base, using temporary S-400 systems until full reconstruction was completed. The goal of the talks is to avoid misunderstandings or unintended clashes between their militaries, especially as both expand their presence in Syria.

Western officials told MEE that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu believed there was a limited window to strike the T4 base before Turkish forces moved in, making the site off-limits to Israeli attacks.

While negotiations are ongoing, Netanyahu has insisted on the full demilitarization of southern Syria—including any Turkish military presence—amid US efforts to push both sides toward de-escalation.

Turkey Reinforces Syrian Air Base After Recent Israeli Attack

Turkey and Israel talk about setting up ‘deconfliction’ line to prevent crises

Tensions between Israel and Turkey continue to soar after last week’s incident where Israel attacked the T4 air base in Tadmur, Syria, a base which Turkey was very open about planning to take over. Israel said the attacks on that base and others were “ a message to Turkey. ”

Turkish forces weren’t present at T4 at the time of that attack, but that’s changing, with reports that Turkey has sent reinforcements to the facility, and are planning to install a substantial air defense around it allowing them to defend against short, medium, and long-range threats.

Israel has expressed concern that Turkey’s presence at the base would harm their “ freedom of action ,” in which they’re attacking targets across Syria several times a week. The direct attack on T4 seems it may lead to Turkey doubling down on the facility, not caving to Israeli opposition.

Israel and Turkey have both been working on carving out their respective spheres of influence in Syria since the Assad government was ousted, but both have gone very different directions. Turkey has been working closely with the new Islamist government in Damascus, while Israel has been invading and occupying part of the south.

The concern these conflicting efforts and the tensions could lead to direct military confrontation is reportedly leading both nations to discuss a “deconfliction line,” effectively a hot-line to report on one another’s activities and avoid any accidental clashes, which could lead to a broader regional war.

And at the very beginning of the hearing, the ranking member of this house subcommittee, who was a Los Angeles Democrat named Sidney Comlager Dove, wanted it entered into the record that the star witness was a serial sexual harasser. And at the time I was, I was sort of fiddling with something in my bag.. and I heard, you know, out of my corner of my ear and I couldn't believe it. You know, I've never been accused by anybody of, you know, even one act of sexual harassment, let alone serially...on the way home, I saw that she had retweeted the exchange and then implied that because I didn't answer, that was a tantamount to endorsing it. And so I filed suit for libel because I can. And, you know, we'll see how that goes.
