Trump Administration Shuts Down National Database Documenting Police Misconduct

Database, first proposed by Trump in 2020 and created by Biden administration in 2023, is now offline

Donald Trump ’s second presidential administration shut down a national database that tracked misconduct by federal police, a resource that policing reform advocates hailed as essential to prevent officers with misconduct records from being able to move undetected between agencies.

The National Law Enforcement Accountability Database (NLEAD), which stored police records documenting misconduct, is now unavailable, the Washington Post first reported .

The US justice department also confirmed the database’s elimination in a statement issued online.

“User agencies can no longer query or add data to the NLEAD,” the statement read. “The US DOJ is decommissioning the NLEAD"

Israeli Army's 7 Oct Probe Further Confirms Implementation Of Hannibal Directive

Israeli choppers fired over 11,000 shells on 'anything that moved' near the Gaza separation wall on 7 October 2023

A top-level internal probe of the Israeli army's failures on 7 October 2023 has reaffirmed that the air force was ordered to carry out the Hannibal Directive a few hours after the Palestinian resistance in Gaza launched Operation Al-Aqsa Flood.

The Hannibal Directive is a long-standing Israeli military protocol aimed at preventing the capture of Israeli hostages, even at the risk of their lives.

According to the report, at around 10:30am, the air force began firing on “anything that moved” near the Gaza border. At the same time, Israeli pilots were tasked with carrying out the previously undisclosed "Sword of Damocles" operation, which focused “on striking Hamas targets inside Gaza.”

By the end of the day, the air force carried out 945 attacks on the Gaza envelope, with helicopters firing 11,000 shells on both Hamas fighters and Israeli settlers and soldiers...

Many of the 251 Israeli soldiers and civilians successfully taken captive were later killed by Israeli airstrikes and friendly fire from soldiers.

...The army's report comes just weeks after former Israeli defense minister and wanted war criminal Yoav Gallant acknowledged ordering the army to use the Hannibal Directive to kill Israeli civilians and soldiers during Operation Al-Aqsa Flood.

Multiple investigations by The Cradle and other news outlets since October 2023 disclosed that a large portion of the 1,200 Israelis who died on 7 October 2023 were killed by their army.

On November 30, 2023, negotiations were underway between Israel and Hamas to extend a temporary ceasefire that had begun a week before.

The previous few days had been marked by jubilant scenes of reuniting families as the Palestinian resistance released 105 women, children, elderly people, and foreigners taken captive on October 7, and Israel released 240 Palestinian hostages and prisoners – 107 of whom were under 18 and three-quarters had not been convicted of a crime.

Relatives of Shiri, Yarden, Ariel, and Kfir Bibas, the orange-haired family that became a symbol of October 7 around the world, hoped for good news as Hamas released captives. However, each day their hopes were dashed as their loved ones’ names did not appear on any of the lists.

On the morning of November 30, another nightmare unfolded when Hamas published a video of Yarden Bibas screaming in agony after being informed that his wife and two young children had been killed in an Israeli airstrike.

“Netanyahu, you bombed and killed my wife and my two children, who were the most important things in my life! Bring them back home so they can be buried in Israel! I beg you to bring me, my wife, and my children back home!” he wailed.

The video contained Hamas’ offer to “transfer the Bibas family's bodies and release their father for their burial, along with two Zionist detainees.”

Israeli military spokesman Daniel Hagari called the video “psychological terror” and said it was working to determine if Shiri, Ariel, and Kfir Bibas had indeed been killed.

Hours after Hamas published the video, negotiations to extend the ceasefire broke down.

Israel’s mega-assault on the Gaza Strip resumed, having already killed at least 14,800 Palestinians including 6,000 children. With the full backing of the Biden administration, the slaughter would continue until January 2025, when U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, just days before taking office, forced Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to agree to a ceasefire.

While Israel blamed Hamas for the breakdown of the ceasefire, contemporaneous reports indicate that Netanyahu walked away from negotiations in order to avoid the transfer of the Bibas family’s corpses....

Trump Returns To Maximum Pressure Policy Against Venezuela

President Donald Trump announced that he would reimpose all sanctions from his first administration on Venezuela. President Joe Biden granted some companies temporary licenses to do business in Venezuela in an effort to improve ties with Caracas.

“We are hereby reversing the concessions that Crooked Joe Biden gave to Nicolás Maduro, of Venezuela, on the oil transaction agreement, dated November 26, 2022,” Trump wrote on TruthSocial. “I am therefore ordering that the ineffective and unmet Biden “Concession Agreement” be terminated as of the March 1st option to renew. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

During Donald Trump’s first administration, he significantly stepped up sanctions on Venezuela, a policy known as “maximum pressure.” Additionally, he backed a coup attempt by Juan Guaido against President Nicolas Maduro.

The Biden administration made some efforts to warm ties with Caracas but with no notable success. In October 2023 , the Biden administration lifted some sanctions on Venezuela’s mining and oil sectors, and Maduro agreed to hold elections in 2024.

The deal quickly crumbled after the Venezuelan Supreme Court barred Washington’s two preferred candidates from running in the election, and the sanctions were reimposed.

US oil giant Chevron was granted a license in 2022 to do business with Caracas. However, the total sanctions regime against the Venezuelan economy has limited the impact of that venture.

While Trump leveled charges of election rigging against Maduro to justify canceling the Chevron deal, he added that Caracas was not accepting deportation flights from the US at a fast enough pace. “Additionally, the regime has not been transporting the violent criminals that they sent into our Country (the Good Ole’ U.S.A.) back to Venezuela at the rapid pace that they had agreed to,” the President wrote.

Shortly after Trump returned to the White House in January, Crisis Envoy Ric Grenell met with Maduro and secured the release of six Americans. Maduro also agreed to accept Venezuelan nationals deported from the US.

Maduro viewed the meeting with Grenell as an opening to improve ties with Washinton. However, Secretary of State Marco Rubio then traveled to the Dominican Republic and seized Maduro’s plane, alleging the aircraft was used to violate sanctions.

House Foreign Affairs Chair Tells Staff To Refer To Israeli-Occupied West Bank As ‘Judea And Samaria’

The order from Rep. Mast, who previously wore an IDF uniform on Capitol Hill, is a sign of support for Israeli annexation of the West Bank

Rep. Brian Mast (R-FL), chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee who previously volunteered with the Israeli military, has ordered committee staff to refer to the Israeli-occupied West Bank as “Judea and Samaria,” a biblical name the state of Israel uses to refer to the Palestinian territory.

According to Axios , in a memo to 50 Republican staffers, Mast wrote that “in recognition of our unbreakable bond with Israel and the inherent right of the Jewish people to their ancient homeland, the House Foreign Affairs Committee will, from here forward, refer to the West Bank as Judea and Samaria in formal correspondence, communication and documentation.”

Mast is one of Israel’s staunchest supporters in Congress, which he demonstrated when he wore an IDF uniform to Capitol Hill in October 2023. “As the only member to serve with both the United States Army and the Israel Defense Forces, I will always stand with Israel,” he wrote on X at the time.

Mast’s order to Republican staffers comes amid a major Israeli military operation in the West Bank dubbed “Iron Wall,” which has involved the forced displacement of 40,000 Palestinians , the destruction of roads, homes, and other infrastructure, and the killing of civilians, including a pregnant woman and several children.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has said the displaced Palestinians cannot return home, signaling a new ethnic cleansing campaign has begun. The Israeli government has made expanding illegal Jewish settlements in the West Bank a priority with the ultimate goal of annexing the territory.

Future German Chancellor Vows To Shield Netanyahu From ICC Arrest Warrant

Friedrich Merz's conservative Christian Democratic Union (CDU) won German elections this weekend, paving the way for him to become the country's next chancellor

Germany's likely next chancellor said on 24 February he would ensure that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu can visit Germany despite an arrest warrant issued against him by the International Criminal Court (ICC).

“In the event that he [Netanyahu] plans to visit Germany, I have promised myself that we will find a way to ensure that he can visit Germany and leave again without being arrested,” said conservative Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party chief Friedrich Merz.

Merz's CDU won Sunday's German elections, allowing him to form a coalition government and become chancellor, replacing Olaf Scholz of the liberal Social Democratic Party (SDU)...

In an earlier statement, Netanyahu's office said Merz had invited the Israeli prime minister “to make an official visit to Germany, in overt defiance of the scandalous International Criminal Court decision to label the prime minister a war criminal.”

Israel Stomps On Gaza Ceasefire Deal, Refuses Withdrawal From Philadelphi Corridor

Several recent reports say Israel has made extensive plans to resume its genocidal war on Gaza

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said on 27 February that Tel Aviv will not withdraw its army from the Philadelphi corridor on the southern Gaza Strip’s border with Egypt, marking a stark violation of the ceasefire agreement signed last month.

“We also have information that Hamas is planning to attack soldiers and towns during the ceasefire,” Katz claimed during a meeting.

“The Philadelphia axis will remain a buffer zone, just as is the case in Lebanon and Syria,” the defense minister added, openly confirming that Israeli forces will not withdraw from the area. “I have seen with my own eyes a fair number of tunnels that penetrate Philadelphia, some of which were closed and others open,” Katz went on to say.

During the meeting with settlement council leaders, Katz said phase one of the ceasefire agreement is “complete.” He also said that Israel only agreed to a deal to return its captives, and that it is ready to return to war.

The Israeli Army Radio also reported on the same day that Tel Aviv “has backed down from its commitment to withdraw from the Philadelphi corridor at the end of the first phase of the exchange deal.”

Israeli DM: US Gave Israel Green Light To Stay In Lebanon ‘Indefinitely’

Occupation of southern Lebanon not ‘time-dependent’

Israel’s decision to continue to occupy territory in southern Lebanon beyond the February 18 deadline came without a lot of official comment from the US. According to Israeli DM Israel Katz, however, the US gave them a “green light” to remain militarily in Lebanon indefinitely.

Israeli media was reporting around the deadline that the US was backing the continued occupation of five surveillance posts inside southern Lebanon. The US never directly confirmed that, however, and that Israel remains in Lebanon just came and went without official US comment.

The ceasefire ending the Israeli invasion of Lebanon was meant to provide a 60-day window for Israeli withdrawal, which would’ve ended January 26. The US guaranteed that Israel would be out by then, but then later endorsed extending the deadline to February 18. They similarly talked about February 18 being a firm deadline that would not be extended , but then stopped talking about it at all beyond that.

Israel started building the hilltop surveillance posts before the February 18 deadline, and Israeli FM Gideon Sa’ar said that the “ strategic high points ” would be necessary to retain temporarily, until the Lebanese Army has sufficient control of the south.

The temporary nature of those posts seems to be at considerable doubt from Katz’s comments. He no longer presented this as anything to do with Lebanese Army control of the area, and just maintains that it is “ not time-dependent. ” It appears Israel will be staying as long as it wants, and the US is comfortable with that idea.
