Battles Rage In North Syria Between Turkish, US Proxies

Turkish airstrikes pounded the vicinity of the SDF-held Tishreen Dam, where clashes between Kurdish forces and Ankara-backed militants have intensified

The Turkish army and its proxy forces continued to launch airstrikes and artillery shelling on the Aleppo countryside in northwest Syria on 19 February, targeting US-backed Kurdish militants stationed near the strategic Tishreen Dam.

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) came under heavy artillery fire from Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA) forces as they continue to hold the dam around which clashes have been raging over the past two months.

“Turkish warplanes launched two airstrikes, targeting the Qasaq Mountains in the countryside of the city of Ain al-Arab (Kobani),” the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported.

SDF responded with rocket attacks on SNA positions near the Qara Qozak Bridge.

Turkish airstrikes pounded several areas in the Aleppo countryside on 17 February. Over the weekend, Kurdish journalist Agid Roj was killed in a Turkish airstrike near Tishreen Dam.
