⭕️ According to Ynet, at least 20 ultra-Orthodox Jews infiltrated Lebanon overnight between Saturday and Sunday. They entered the tomb of Rav Ashi, a 4th-century Babylonian Jewish rabbi, near the peak of 'Mount Shanan' which sits on the Lebanese side of the border—a site they have illegally accessed before. The Israeli army stopped them and returned them, detaining eight for questioning.

Israel ‘Unserious’ About Moving Forward With Gaza Ceasefire: Hamas
An Israeli airstrike killed three Palestinian police officers as they were working to secure the entry of aid trucks into the Gaza Strip
Israel continues to breach the Gaza ceasefire agreement with deadly attacks by obstructing key provisions of the humanitarian protocol, particularly the entry of mobile homes and heavy equipment into the strip, as was initially agreed upon.
Hamas has accused the Israeli government of a “lack of seriousness” in moving forward with the second phase of the agreement.
The resistance movement’s statement came after Israel bombed the southern city of Rafah on the morning of 16 February, killing three police officers who were working to secure the entry of aid trucks into Gaza.
"The treacherous attack carried out by a Zionist drone this morning east of Rafah, targeting police officers responsible for securing the entry of aid—resulting in the martyrdom of three of them—constitutes a grave violation of the ceasefire agreement,” Hamas said.
This crime … adds to the occupation’s failure to abide by the terms of the agreement, the latest of which was its statements today not to allow the entry of mobile homes and heavy machinery, which it had committed to and informed the mediators of at the end of last week,” the statement added.

Israel Plans To 'Destroy' Jenin Camp, Continue Military Siege 'Indefinitely': Report
Israeli forces have killed at least 25 Palestinians and displaced over 20,000 people since their assault on Jenin camp began last month
Israel plans to continue military operations in Jenin "indefinitely" to destroy the refugee camp in the city and prevent more than half of its residents from returning, Al-Araby Al-Jadeed reported on 14 February.
"Officers from the Israeli Civil Administration explained to us that the military operation in the camp will continue indefinitely and that more than half of its residents will not be able to return to it after the destruction," said Ammar Abu Bakr, the head of the Jenin Chamber of Commerce.

Israeli forces began their "Iron Wall" operation on 21 December, displacing some 40,000 Palestinians across the West Bank. Since then, bulldozers have been demolishing Jenin's residential buildings, businesses, and infrastructure, including roads.
Israeli media reported that the army's Central Command is considering establishing permanent military posts in or near the Jenin camp, allowing a specialized battalion to launch rapid military operations.

Sudan: Iran And Russia’s New Red Sea Frontline
As Iran and Russia-backed forces in Sudan achieve major battlefield successes, Tehran and Moscow look to gain a strategic Red Sea foothold to compensate for their setbacks in Syria.
Sudanese Foreign Minister Ali al-Sharif announced on 12 February that Sudan has agreed to allow Russia to establish a naval base on the Red Sea coast...
This development coincides with the Sudanese Armed Forces’ (SAF) rapid battlefield successes... as well as growing international alignment with the SAF in its civil war with the UAE-backed Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
Until early 2024, the Russians largely backed the RSF, but switching sides aligned Moscow’s position more closely with Iran – a strong SAF backer – reduced the SAF’s cooperation with Ukraine, and supported Russian interests in establishing a naval base in Port Sudan...
The RSF counts the UAE, the Libyan National Army, Chad, and until recently Russia and Kenya among its backers. Meanwhile, the SAF is supported by Egypt, Eritrea, Saudi Arabia, Ukraine, Turkiye, Iran, and now Russia. These alliances have sometimes proved to be fluid, with shifting loyalties driven..
..With Sudan’s Red Sea coast halfway between Israel and Yemen, Iran’s support for the SAF could ...derail Israel–Sudan ties established by the 2020 Abraham Accords....
Sudan has experienced civil war almost every year since declaring independence in 1956. In 1989, Omar al-Bashir ousted prime minister Sadiq al-Mahdi, aligning Khartoum with Iran, which provided weapons in return for access to Port Sudan on the Red Sea. Iran’s support was controversial due to Sudan’s genocide in Darfur.
Relations, however, deteriorated as Sudan sided with Saudi Arabia during the growing Saudi–Iranian rift. Beginning in 2014, Sudan closed all Iranian cultural centers and expelled Iranian diplomats. The following year, Sudan sent RSF troops to support the Saudi-led coalition against Yemen’s Anasrallah-aligned forces.
In 2016, Sudan, along with other Arab countries, cut off relations with Iran.... That same year, Sudan also began normalizing relations with Israel.
In 2019, protests broke out in Sudan against the rising cost of living. In April of that year, the country's army, which included elements of what became the SAF and RSF, overthrew the government. A power struggle between SAF and RSF turned into war in April 2023 when RSF captured Khartoum’s airport, the presidential palace, and several key military bases. Despite these drastic changes, Sudan continued to normalize relations with the occupation state.
From civil war to proxy war
...The UAE kept this relationship secret, hoping to open a new port along the SAF-controlled Red Sea. This was canceled when their support was uncovered. It is widely believed that without UAE support, the RSF would completely collapse.
Also supporting the RSF is Sudan’s western neighbor Chad, which provides weapons..
Russia supported the RSF to protect its pre-war gold mining. Last year, however, Moscow switched to supporting the SAF...

Trump Administration Inherits SOUTHCOM’s Expansion in Latin America and the Caribbean
During her tenure as Commander of the U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) from October 2021 to her retirement in November 2024, General Laura J. Richardson oversaw a significant expansion of U.S. military presence and strategic alliances in Latin America and the Caribbean. This initiative reflects Washington’s continued influence in the region, reinforcing a modern interpretation of the Monroe Doctrine aimed at maintaining U.S. dominance over hemispheric affairs, particularly concerning natural resources, trade routes, and geopolitical stability within the U.S. Rules-Based Order paradigm.
Expansion of U.S. Military Presence
Throughout the Biden Administration, under General Richardson’s leadership, the U.S. expanded its military footprint by bolstering existing bases and establishing new facilities. SOUTHCOM focused on key locations in Central America, the American Pacific Coast and the Caribbean, securing control over critical infrastructure and natural resources as well as countering foreign influence, specifically Washington’s perceived threat from China.
Colombia: With seven U.S. military bases (two naval, three air force, two army), Colombia remains one of the closest U.S. military partners in the region. Under Richardson, joint operations, training exercises, and infrastructure investments increased, ensuring U.S. influence over the country’s energy and mineral resources.
Ecuador: In 2023, the U.S. secured a security cooperation agreement with Ecuador, deploying military personnel and resources to combat narcotics trafficking and organized crime within Ecuador. Discussions ensued about developing a new security cooperation site, reinforcing U.S. oversight of regional security and economic interests. Additionally, the U.S. gained access to the Galápagos Islands for military operations, expanding maritime control in the Pacific.
Guyana: Amid Washington-provoked tensions with Venezuela, the U.S. bolstered military collaboration with Guyana. In late 2023, SOUTHCOM conducted joint operations with the Guyana Defense Force, including air and maritime security exercises, reinforcing ties with this key oil-producing nation.
Peru: In May 2023, amid social unrest following the parliamentary coup against Pedro Castillo, Peru’s Congress approved the deployment of U.S. troops to train the Peruvian military and National Police. The measure continued a tradition of U.S. military training in the region – a practice dating back to the 1990s Fujimori dictatorship when U.S. SOUTHCOM maintained multiple bases in the country.
Deepening Alliances and Military Partnerships
Beyond physical expansion, SOUTHCOM intensified diplomatic and military engagement through security agreements, joint training programs, and capacity-building initiatives, solidifying U.S. hegemony while ensuring continued access to strategic resources and trade routes.
National Guard’s State Partnership Program (SPP): In fiscal year 2024, SOUTHCOM and the National Guard engaged in over 300 joint military activities with partner nations, strengthening defense cooperation and crisis response capabilities.
Panama: Recognizing Panama’s strategic importance, in 2022 General Richardson reaffirmed commitments to securing the Panama Canal, enhancing joint security measures to ensure control over this critical global trade corridor.
Caribbean Operations: SOUTHCOM reinforced partnerships in the Caribbean through military training, counter-drug operations, and humanitarian assistance. In Haiti, the U.S. ramped up contingency operations...
