HTS Extremists Launch Rockets From Syria Into Lebanon As Border Clashes Intensify
Lebanon’s army has deployed reinforcements to the area as fighting between tribesmen and Syrian authorities flared up for the second day in a row
Clashes renewed on the Lebanon–Syria border on 7 February between Lebanese tribesmen and the forces of the Syrian Military Operations Department led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS).
Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA) reported “artillery shelling and heavy machine gun fire on the town of Jarmash on the city of Hermel’s northern border with Syria.” Part of Jarmash is located on the Syrian side of the border, while the other is on the Lebanese side.
Al Mayadeen’s correspondent reported that a booby-trapped drone launched by the HTS-led forces exploded over Jarmash. The correspondent also said that two rockets struck the outskirts of the town of Al-Kawakh north of Hermel, which came from the countryside of Qusayr in Syria.
According to Al Mayadeen, the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) have begun to send reinforcements to the area.
The clashes erupted on 6 February in the town of Hawik – a Lebanese town that lies on both sides of the Lebanon–Syria border.

Scientists Discover Microplastics In Antarctica's Most Remote Regions - As They Warn 'nowhere On Earth Is Truly Untouched'
The sheer scale of Earth's plastic problem has been laid bare in a new study.
Researchers from the British Antarctic Survey (BAS) have discovered microplastics in the snow near some of Antarctica's deep field camps.
This is the first time these tiny pieces of plastic - some as small as a red blood cell - have been found in such remote locations.
An initial analysis suggests that the microplastics have come from local sources.
'This could come from outdoor clothing, or the ropes and flags that are used to mark safe routes in and around the camp,' said Dr Clara Manno, an ocean ecologist at BAS.
Worryingly, the implications of microplastics in this frozen wilderness remain unclear.
'Despite stringent regulations on materials entering Antarctica, our findings reveal microplastic contamination even in remote and highly controlled areas,' said Dr Kirstie Jones-Williams, co-author of the study.
'This underscores the pervasive nature of plastic pollution—demonstrating that nowhere on Earth is truly untouched.'
For the study, the researchers analysed samples collected from three field camps at the Union Glacier and the Schanz Glacier - two remote areas at the South Pole.
Previous studies have relied on scientists hand-picking particles and fibres out of samples for analysis.
Instead, the BAS team used a newer technique that involves melting snow through filter paper and scanning it at a higher resolution.
Their analysis revealed microplastics at concentrations ranging from 73 to 3,099 particles per liter of snow.
The vast majority (95 per cent) of the particles were smaller than 50 micrometres - the size of most human cells.
According to the researchers, this suggests previous studies may have underestimated the true extent of microplastic pollution in Antarctica, due to the less sensitive detection methods.
'With these developing techniques, we're now able to analyse microplastics of a much smaller size than before,' said Dr Emily Rowlands, co-author of the study.
'In fact, we found microplastic abundance in these snow samples to be 100 times higher than in previous studies of Antarctic snow samples.'

❗️Russia criticized US President Donald Trump’s proposal to take control of the Gaza Strip, calling it an example of Western "cancel culture."
During a roundtable discussion on Ukraine with ambassadors in Moscow, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov claimed that this "culture of cancellation" has become especially apparent in the context of the Middle East.
Referring to the UN Security Council’s resolutions, he noted that decisions previously acknowledged by all as essential for establishing a Palestinian state just a month and a half ago have now effectively been dismissed.

Syria is open to allowing Russia to maintain its air and naval bases along the Mediterranean coast, provided that any agreement with the Kremlin aligns with the country’s interests, Syrian Defense Minister Murhaf Abu Qasra stated in an interview this week with the Washington Post.
According to Abu Qasra, Russia’s approach towards the new Syrian government has “improved significantly” since the fall of President Bashar al-Assad in December, and Damascus is currently considering Moscow’s demands.
“In politics, there are no permanent enemies,” he said of Moscow. When asked if Russia would be allowed to maintain its naval port at Tartous and the Hmeimim air base in Latakia, Abu Qasra added: “If we get benefits for Syria out of this, yes.”
The defense minister also discussed Syria’s efforts to establish new military and political partnerships, ongoing negotiations with US-backed Kurdish forces, and a plan to unify the country’s numerous armed factions under one command.

Scientists Produced a Particle of Light That Simultaneously Accessed 37 Different Dimensions
The Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) paradox describes how quantum theory cannot be described by local realistic descriptions.
A new study takes this GHZ paradox to new heights to see just how non-classical the quantum world can get.
In the process, their experiment included photons in 37 dimensions, taking science even further down this strange quantum rabbit hole with the hopes of finding applications in these high-dimensional systems.
Classical and quantum mechanics don’t really get along as the science of the subatomic can get, well, weird. Take, for instance, quantum entanglement, which says that the state of one particle can be determined by examining the state of its entangled pair regardless of distance. This strange fact flies in the face of classical physics, and even led Albert Einstein to famously describe this quantum quirk as “spooky action at a distance.”
This is what is known as “quantum nonlocality,” where objects are influenced across distances (seeming beyond the speed of light) whereas classical physics follows local theory, the idea that objects are influenced by their immediate surroundings. This is a pretty sharp divide as explained by the famous no-go theorem known as the Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) paradox, which essentially details how quantum theory cannot be described by local realistic description.
Named for the physicists who described the paradox in 1989, GHZ-type paradoxes show that when particles can only be influenced by proximity they produce mathematical impossibilities. As New Scientist reports, the paradox can even be expressed through a calculation where 1 equals -1. This paradox is useful in showing how quantum properties can not be described using classical means, but a new paper published in the journal Science Advances, decided to see just how strange these paradoxes could get.
Essentially, an international team of scientists wanted to see how un-classical particles of light could get—and the results were maybe stranger than the authors originally anticipated. This extremely technical experiment produced photons, or particles of light, that existed in 37 dimensions. Just as you and I exist in three dimension—plus an additional temporal dimension—these photons required 37 similar reference points.
“This experiment shows that quantum physics is more nonclassical than many of us thought,” Technical University of Denmark’s Zhenghao Liu, a co-author of the study, told New Scientist. “It could be [that] 100 years after its discovery, we are still only seeing the tip of the iceberg.”

❗️Several Syrian sources are reporting that on 2 February, 2025, Nagham Issa, wife of Shaaban al-Ali from the village of Balqasah, was taken captive while visiting a clinic in Homs for her pregnancy. She was subjected to physical abuse and humiliation by armed militants affiliated with Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, who demanded a ransom of 500 million Syrian pounds.
Nagham and another woman were executed. The militants sent a photo of her body to her husband, instructing him to look for her remains in hospitals.

Yoav Gallant admitted that the Hannibal Directive was implemented on October 7th, which allowed for the Israeli military to kill civilians to prevent them from being taken as hostages.
Never forget that the mainstream media in the US, UK, and EU thought you were stupid enough to believe that the militia of a concentration camp with light weapons, improvised rockets, and no air force, was capable of this level of destruction and carnage.
While independent and alternative media outlets covered every admission of the implementation of the Hannibal Directive by Israeli soldiers and military officials, mainstream media refused to cover it, called the reports conspiracy theories, or outright omitted any mention of the Hannibal Directive from their coverage.
