R5, leader of the Cartel de Los Reyes, killed in military operation alongside nephew

Today, Mexico’s state security chief Omar García Harfuch confirmed the death of Luis Enrique Barragán Chávez, aka Wicho or R5, leader of the Cartel de Los Reyes during a military operation in Tocumbo, Michoacán.

Slide 1 shows an exclusive picture of R5 from May of this year, during a family gathering.

Two people were killed in the operation, the second being Jesús Sandoval aka Chuchito or Nini, a nephew of R5 who had his own team of sicarios called Los Ninis, consisting of some of his friends of similar age.

Two weapons were recovered, an AK pattern rifle and an FN Scar L with a drum magazine. The Scar was Chuchito’s personal weapon, seen again in slides 3 and 4 with the same foregrip and tan Holosun optic.
