Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was the founder and the king of Maratha Empire and a symbol of valor, wisdom, and governance. Born on February 19, 1630, at Shivneri Fort, he was raised by his mother, Jijabai, who instilled in him the ideals of Swarajya. With his guerrilla warfare tactics (Ganimi Kava), he challenged the mighty Mughal and Adilshahi forces, securing forts and expanding his empire. Shivaji Maharaj was not just a fearless warrior but also a visionary ruler who implemented progressive administration, naval expansion, and religious tolerance. His coronation on June 6, 1674, at Raigad Fort, marked the beginning of independent Maratha rule. Even in adversity, such as his imprisonment in Agra, he displayed intelligence and resilience, successfully escaping Aurangzeb’s grasp. His Rajmudra (royal seal) symbolized eternal sovereignty and justice for his people. Shivaji Maharaj’s legacy continues to inspire generations as a warrior king, strategic leader, and protector of Hindavi Swarajya.
