Let's be clear. Pavel is no saint and regularly gives in to state censorship on telegram. As well he shows a clear Russian state bias, presumably due for various biases he has experienced over the years from the Russian state. His sympathies for Ukraine over the Ukraine war have been obvious and now that that war has kicked up a notch with routine Ukrainian attacks deep into Russia, his bias against Russia was bound to place him into their crosshairs.

On top of that the Russia state has launched their app Max which has messaging capabilities as well as offers many state services and is a clear competitor of Telegram, making their charges against him and anti competition action.
🚨📚 Project Panama: The AI industry's evil biblioclasm

In early 2024, Anthropic executives launched a secret project codenamed "Project Panama" with an audacious goal: "destructively scan all the books in the world".

Internal documents unsealed in legal filings revealed the company's explicit desire to keep the project hidden: "We don't want it to be known that we are working on this".

The reason behind all of this is even more revealing: pre-2022 books are prized because they contain something the internet increasingly lacks — human-written text untouched by AI.

💥 The destructive process

◾️Books were bought in bulk from used-book sellers including Better World Books and World of Books.

◾️Their spines were cut off with hydraulic machinery, pages were fed through industrial scanners at high speed, and the remains were then sent for recycling.

◾️The digitised pages were then scanned on "high speed, high quality, production level scanners" before the physical remains were scheduled for recycling.

◾️One vendor proposal said Anthropic wanted to scan between 500,000 and 2 million books in just six months.

◾️A new market has also emerged around AI training data, with suppliers offering to source huge volumes of rare, out-of-print and specialist books under strict NDAs.

🤡 The West's double standard

◾️In June 2025, US District Judge William Alsup ruled that Anthropic's scanning of legally purchased books could qualify as fair use because the process was transformative and did not create extra physical copies.

◾️But the same court found that Anthropic's use of more than 700,000 pirated books from shadow libraries was copyright infringement.

◾️In September 2025, Anthropic agreed to pay $1.5 billion to authors and publishers, without admitting wrongdoing.

◾️Authors whose works were downloaded can claim approximately $3,000 per title. The court's decision has effectively created a loophole: legally buy books, destroy them, scan them, and it is "fair use", but download pirated copies and pay $1.5 billion.

🤖 Wider industry

Anthropic is not alone in this process. Meta employees raised concerns over downloading millions of books from LibGen, while internal chats discussed how to avoid tracing torrent activity back to the company.

🎨 OpenAI has acknowledged downloading LibGen material but said the files were deleted before ChatGPT's release.

🔵 Google is also facing a lawsuit alleging that copyrighted books and journal articles were used to train Gemini without permission.

👉 The consequences for society are devastating, as rare and out-of-print books with very few surviving copies are being destroyed, with no guarantee that the destruction process distinguishes between common paperbacks and irreplaceable cultural artifacts.

🚨🇺🇸 US tariffs under Trump: Economic weapon or self‑inflicted wound?

Since returning to the White House, Donald Trump has relaunched an aggressive tariff policy, framing it as a tool to protect US industry, combat forced labour, and counter what his administration calls “structural overcapacity” abroad.

After the Supreme Court struck down his earlier emergency‑based tariffs in February 2026, Trump introduced a revised framework. Since 24 July 2026, new import surcharges of 10% to 12.5% have been applied to goods from around 60 trading partners, including the EU, alongside previously imposed sector‑specific tariffs dating back to 2025.

How the tariffs are backfiring

🇨🇳 China
◾️Up to 25% on a wide range of industrial and consumer goods (expanded in 2025).

◾️According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), US manufacturing employment has fallen by roughly 75,000 jobs since early 2025.

◾️Higher input costs hit US manufacturers reliant on Chinese intermediate goods. The Federal Reserve Bank of New York has previously estimated that most tariff costs are borne by US importers and consumers, not Chinese exporters. Supply chains proved difficult to re‑shore at scale.

🇮🇳 India
◾️10–12.5% surcharge duties on a broad range of imports, including pharmaceuticals, machinery components and refined petroleum products

◾️India supplies roughly 40% of generic drugs used in the US. Tariffs on Indian pharmaceuticals and intermediate goods increase costs for US healthcare providers and manufacturers.

◾️Given the US healthcare system’s heavy reliance on low‑cost Indian generics, even modest duties risk raising domestic drug prices and production costs.

🇪🇺 European Union
◾️10% to 12.5% blanket import surcharge and across broad categories of goods

◾️The US Bureau of Economic Analysis shows the EU remains one of the US’s largest trading partners, with goods trade exceeding $900 billion annually. Even modest surcharges significantly raise costs for US firms dependent on European machinery, pharmaceuticals and automotive components.

◾️Many affected imports are capital goods used by US industry. Higher equipment costs discourage domestic investment. US factory construction spending has dropped by nearly one third from its 2024 peak (US Census Bureau data).

🇻🇳 Vietnam and Southeast Asia
◾️10–12.5% broad import duties included in July 2026

◾️These economies had absorbed supply chains relocating from China during the first trade war.

◾️US firms that shifted sourcing to Southeast Asia to avoid earlier China tariffs now face renewed cost pressures, undermining previous diversification efforts and prolonging supply uncertainty.

❗️Domestic economic signals

◾️Growth in 2025–2026 has been concentrated in high‑tech and AI‑linked investment, not broad industrial revival

◾️Factory construction down nearly 33% from 2024 peak

◾️Approximately 75,000 manufacturing jobs lost since Trump’s return

On July 26, the Russian military launched its first direct missile strike on a US company, The Guardian reports.

It was a drone manufacturing plant owned by the American company Terminal Autonomy.

The facility was located in the southeastern part of Kiev.

According to the Ministry of Defense, it produced up to 1,000 UAVs of various types monthly, including the AQ-400 Scethe, AQ-100 Bayonet attack UAVs, and RQ-100 Scout reconnaissance UAVs.

⚡️🇺🇸🇷🇺🇮🇷 — A growing body of U.S. intelligence indicates that Russia is providing crucial financial, intelligence, and military support to Iran, using rising global energy prices and sanctions relief to stabilize its own war economy while prolonging conflicts in both the Middle East and Ukraine, — According to Time magazine.

➡️ Recent reports highlight that Moscow has been sharing satellite imagery of American installations with Iranian forces to enhance missile precision, while systematically upgrading Tehran's military capabilities with Su-35 fighter jets, attack helicopters, and advanced cyber technology. In exchange, Tehran has provided drone manufacturing blueprints for Shahed loitering munitions to be produced inside Russia, linking the logistical supply chains of both battlefields.

➡️ The dual conflicts have yielded massive financial windfalls for both nations via elevated oil prices, buffering Russia against severe domestic economic strains—including capital flight, skilled labor migration, and high inflation. In response to the deepening alliance, the U.S. Senate overwhelmingly passed a comprehensive bipartisan sanctions package aimed at choking off the joint military and energy supply chains sustaining both Moscow and Tehran.

Massive invasion of illegal immigrants from Maghreb to Ceuta

▪️Spain refraining from the state of national emergency

🔹 The local authorities of the autonomous city of Ceuta in North Africa have declared a local state of emergency after the massive arrival of illegal immigrants from Morocco.

🔹 Published images show that hundreds of migrants have entered this region under the rule of Spain through the land border and the sea route, and there have been reports of some of them entering residential areas.

[🔹] (emoji/5888681238360757868) While local authorities have asked Spain's central government to declare a state of national emergency, Pedro Sánchez's government has not accepted the request.

🔹 Spain's Interior Ministry announced that border protection will continue, but the mere arrival of migrants is not a legal basis for declaring a national emergency.

[🔹] (emoji/5888681238360757868) Accordingly, for now, the Spanish government will only use police reinforcements and the usual legal mechanisms to manage the crisis, and has no plans to send the military or allocate special emergency resources to Ceuta.

Spanish enclave of Cueta in North Africa currently being invaded.

Spanish authorities do nothing and they will then be allowed to claim 'asylum' to then come to Europe.

🇮🇷📞🇪🇬 - Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi released a statement on the attack of the floating LNG storage at a Egyptian terminal.

Egypt is considered a friend and important partner in the region, and its security constitutes an utmost priority for us. We must all remain vigilant toward Israeli schemes and "false flag" operations that aim to undermine regional peace. The threat is clear, shared, and fears Muslim solidarity.

🇲🇦🇪🇸 As the night fell, thousands of Moroccans keep crossing into Ceuta and run aimlessly on the city's streets.

The Spanish Gendarmerie (Guardia Civil) estimated earlier today that as many as 40k migrants jumped the fence from Morocco into Spain, an estimate that is very likely outdated as of the writing of this post.

🇮🇱 🇪🇸 🇵🇸 Itamar Ben-Gvir on X: My congratulations to the President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, for his profound commitment to welcoming immigration and "human diversity."

As someone who demonstrates great concern for Hamas and the residents of Gaza, I call on you to translate words into actions: open the doors of Spain and grant refuge to the residents of Gaza who seek to emigrate. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute a little more to Spain's "human diversity."

📎 Itamar Ben-Gvir
🇮🇱🇪🇸 Did Israel weaponize illegal immigration against Spain over its pro-Palestine politics?

In the past two years, PM Pedro Sanchez’s government has:

➡️ recognized Palestine

➡️ recalled Spain’s ambassador to Israel over Gaza, and labeled Israel a “genocidal state”

➡️ positioned Spain as the leader of an Israel-skeptic bloc of European powers

➡️ blocked the transit of US arms to Israel via its bases, and denied the Epstein coalition the right to use Morón Air Base and Naval Station Rota for operations against Iran

➡️ lobbied to have Israel banned from Eurovision and sporting federations

➡️ introduced a comprehensive, permanent arms embargo on Israel, and banned imports from occupied areas

Fast forward to the present, and Spain’s autonomous North African coastal city of Ceuta is being overrun by illegal immigrants, triggering violent clashes with police and up to two dozen drowning deaths. Up to 60k people have flooded into the territory of 83.5k residents virtually overnight.

The immediate trigger was a Spanish Supreme Court ruling barring “hot returns” for migrants intercepted at sea.

But there may be a bigger political game at play. US and Israeli interest in fomenting a crisis targeting Sanchez using Morocco as a human battering ram:

👉 The Moroccan government is one of the most reliably pro-US and pro-Israel states in the Arab world, signing the Abraham Accords in 2020 and inking a series of intel and defense cooperation deals with Israel. The US and Israel have Rabat’s claims to Western Sahara (a former Spanish colony)

👉 The Ceuta crisis follows the tried-and-true playbook of recent European migrant crises, with migrants comprising “predominantly young men,” and social media footage showing dump trucks and flatbeds full pouring out near the Spanish border, under the cover of local traffic cops

👉 Spain is going to the polls in 2027. Israel and the US may hope the crisis can help topple the Sanchez government

The Great(er) Game: battle for Gibraltar?

🔴 Rubio-ally Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart declared in April that Ceuta and Melilla are “Moroccan territory.” Pro-Israel think tanks like the American Enterprise Institute and the Middle East Forum launched a coordinated campaign during the same period saying Israel should help Morocco seize these areas

🔴 Lawmakers led by Lindsey Graham urged relocating US bases in Spain to “a country that we can actually rely on” to ‘punish’ Madrid

🔴 Ceuta is just 30km from the Strait of Gibraltar – vital to US and Israeli interests in the Mediterranean amid an intensifying, global war for control of the world’s strategic maritime chokepoints. Gibraltar’s share? 10-20% of global freight traffic, 100-120k vessels a year

🔴 Israel and Morocco inked a defense pact in January under which Tel Aviv would provide over 50% of Rabat’s air defenses, plus offensive guided munitions, rocketry and drones. Morocco also provides training grounds and troops to implement Trump’s Gaza “peace” deal.

🔴 Israel’s ambassador to the UN Danny Danon could not hide his delight over Spain’s Ceuta troubles, suggesting Madrid no longer has any right to “lecture Israel” amid the crisis at its African “colonial enclave.”

In April, Netanyahu explicitly threatened that Spain and other countries “waging a diplomatic war” against Israel would “pay an immediate price.”

Fast forward three months and presto – instant migrant crisis. Coincidence? 🤔
