๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธโŒ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ท โ€” President Trump is leaning toward expanding U.S. military operations against Iran after receiving briefings on new military options from senior officials, WSJ reports.

โžก๏ธ Discussions have included broadening the air campaign against Iranian military and energy infrastructure, deploying U.S. ground forces to seize Kharg Island, Iranโ€™s main oil export hub, and striking the deeply fortified, nuclear-linked Pickaxe Mountain complex, which has not yet been targeted.

โžก๏ธ Trump has not made a final decision and continues to say he would prefer a diplomatic solution.

โžก๏ธ However, officials say he has requested more escalatory options as Iran has refused to meet U.S. demands regarding its nuclear program and continues threatening commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

๐Ÿ‡พ๐Ÿ‡ชโš”๏ธ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฆ Houthi rebels are preparing to shut the Bab el-Mandeb strait on behalf of Iran.

A source told The Telegraph of a deliberate Iranian attempt to control โ€œthe other side of the Red Seaโ€ and create a scenario similar to its grip on the Strait of Hormuz.

Bab el-Mandeb is on the west side of the Arabian Peninsula from Hormuz, and forms a choke point between the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean.

The Houthi rebel group, Tehranโ€™s most capable regional proxy, is laying the groundwork to close the strait, quietly extending its reach to the Horn of Africa, according to sources in Yemen.

The Houthis, in Yemen on the north-eastern coast of the strait, will work with al-Shabab, the Somali militant group, to control both sides of the waterway.

The aim is to inflict more pain on the global economy and increase pressure on Donald Trump.

The source said: โ€œThere are a lot of indicators showing co-ordination between the Houthis and al-Shabab. This co-ordination is aimed at totally controlling and blocking the Strait of Bab el-Mandeb when Iran decides in the future.

โ€œThe Houthis are transferring drone technology to al-Shabab on behalf of Iran, so the Houthis are becoming the leaders of the region.โ€

For now, the Houthis are holding back. The source said: โ€œIt is not a smart idea for Iran to use all its cards at the same time at the beginning.โ€

The Houthis have been taking lessons from Iran on how to withstand the kind of decapitation strikes that killed much of Tehranโ€™s leadership in the war, and are naming multiple successors for every senior post and readying for a prolonged fight.

Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, the groupโ€™s leader, has designated a family member to replace him if he is killed, part of a system of โ€œshadow leadersโ€.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ฑ Asked about Israeli government influence operations on the US, JD Vance says "I don't even mind" it, adding: "Foreign governments try to influence the United States all the time."

"Israel does it, other countries do it. It's just sort of the nature of the beast."

๐Ÿ“Anon: What kind of vice-president is unbothered by the fact that a foreign country interferes in its internal affairs to steer foreign policy in the interests of the aforementioned foreign country? Normal, sovereign countries do not tolerate foreign interference in their internal affairs.
