Russia issued a formal condemnation of the US and Israeli "military aggression" against Iran on February 28, calling the airstrikes a premeditated and unprovoked violation of international law. Moscow accused Washington and Tel Aviv of deliberately escalating the conflict to destabilize the West Asia and dismantle Iran's leadership, warning that the attack on nuclear facilities undermines the global non-proliferation regime and risks regional catastrophe. The ministry called for an urgent assessment by the UN and IAEA and urged an immediate return to diplomatic solutions.

The risk of a US Naval ship being destroyed by an Iranian missile in the region is high. The sinking of a large US ship would be devastating to the image of US military power in the world and negatively impact the value of the dollar. Not smart to risk causing such a scenario if Trump's stated policy is putting "America First"
