The new update for Pixel 6 series only added back some missing fixes
Daniel Micay

A few hours ago, it is spotted that Google released a new update for the Pixel 6 series, but there isn't any known changes at first. Apparently someone had already investigated the build difference.

According to Daniel Micay, founder of GrapheneOS, he mentioned that the new update for Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro only "added a missing security fix in AOSP, updated Camera HAL APEX and patched Samsung RIL HAL library." There isn't a single change in APN or carrier configuration, modem firmware is also untouched.

That's pretty much the changes made in the new update. The OTA update weigh around 10.25MB. And about the Wi-Fi issues, most people said they aren't facing it at all, so it's a false alarm and safe to update after all.

Google confirms Pixel 6 Wi-Fi issues, will be resolved in March update
9To5Google

A few Pixel 6 owners who have updated to the February security patch noticed their devices are having issues with the Wi-Fi connectivity, and Google has confirmed the bug existence and will be releasing an update to fix it soon.

A few days ago, Google has released a small update for the Pixel 6 series, but that doesn't seem to fix the Wi-Fi issue as the update only included a few missing changes. Just recently, Google has responded on a Reddit thread stating that they've been able to identify the issue and will be rolling out the fix with the March update.

For those who faced the Wi-Fi issue and want to eagerly get the fix, you can try out Android 12L Beta 3 which most Pixel 6 users find out to be even stable than the Android 12 release.

Pixel 6 that have updated to the newer February patch can't install Android 12L, but another build is coming soon
9To5Google

A week ago, Google released a new small update for the Pixel 6, but a few people that decided to flash the Android 12L Beta 3 later can't successfully install it after that.

Those people who faced the issue had tried to enroll in the beta program and waited 24 hours for the OTA, but still they don't receive it. Some also tried sideloading it but end up failing to do so. After a few days, Google responded that it is due to the February patch being newer than the Android 12L Beta 3 build, hence the reason why you don't receive OTA and can't successfully sideload it.

In the same reply, Google also said there is an "upcoming beta build in March " which will let those Pixel 6 owners to have the chance installing it. By the way, Android 12L is hitting the stable channel soon, as Google planned to do it by the end of Q1 this year, or probably it will be extended to April.

Pixel Camera Services bring in Night Sight for Snapchat on Pixel 6
9To5Google | Play Store

With March Feature Drop, you could use Night Sight inside Snapchat on Pixel 6, and in order to achieve this, Google has revealed a new app called Pixel Camera Services on the Play Store.

Apparently the service is already preinstalled on Pixel 6 devices, and some users noticed Google issued an update for the application, which "enables Night Sight via Camera2 Extensions." After installing the update, you will see a crescent moon icon in Snapchat which let you enabled the Night Sight functionality.

It seems like Google could make more partnerships and make it available for more popular camera applications too. Google listed out that you need to be on March security update in order to get it installed, but seems like the only option for Pixel 6 owners to get the app is to be on Android 12QPR3 Beta 1.

Pixel Camera Services hinted more than 10 million Pixel 6 devices are in use
You knows what's interesting about the Pixel Camera Services, the downloads count. As Google mentioned it's only for Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro running March security update (Android 12L), this makes the statistics far way interesting.

At the time of writing, Google didn't release stable build of Android 12L for Pixel 6 series as it is delayed, and if that's the case, that's mean more than 10 million Pixel 6 device owners are already on Android 12QPR3 Beta 1!

Or maybe that isn't the case, but I don't see anyone out there said they got it on their Pixel 6 running February update though. Anyway, conclusion is that there are more than 10 million Pixel 6 & Pixel 6 Pro actively being used around the world.

If there's no surprise, Google could hide the downloads count very soon one day. They had did it for Security Hub as 9To5Google covered about it, but let's hope they don't this time.

Pixel 6 March update appeared to have weaker haptic vibrations
Droid Life

Just a few days ago, Google has issued Android 12L stable build and Feature Drop update for their latest flagship Pixel 6 & Pixel 6 Pro. As time passed, some owners found out that the haptic vibration on their device are weaker than what it used to be.

Several users who faced the issue have reported it over at the Pixel Phone Support Forum and Reddit. They reported that the device vibration intensity is so weak that some of them even missed to pick up important calls, but some owners preferred this change though.

Droid Life also pointed out that in the March 2022 & Android 12L changelog that Google provided, it mentioned a “fix for issue causing weaker haptic feedback in certain conditions” and was intended for both devices. By the way, the April update is around the corner and it could possibly fix the issue, who knows.

Google Pixel 6 declines phone calls and changed ringtones & alarm sounds for no reason
r/GooglePixel (2)

Six months since the Pixel 6 was released, it is still buggy as usual. I am highly suspecting Google has been doing this on purpose in order to enter headlines and promote Pixel devices to even more audiences. What a great strategy Google.

Anyway, let's discuss the recent new bugs with the April update for Pixel devices. Phone call is one of the core features of phones and Google literally messed it up. Multiple Pixel 6 owners reported they didn't get notified about phone calls, despite having Flip to shh and Do not disturb disabled.

Besides, other Pixel device owners who have recently updated noticing their alarm and ringtone sound changed. Some users also reported their own imported sounds disappeared too. What users can do now is to switch it back manually and hopefully Google could fix it with the next update, else it might recur again.

Pixel 6 carrier sales reportedly not doing good
PCMag

Pixel 6 is the latest flagship device from Google, 6 months passed and it still left with a ton of issues, and recently a new report claimed that the device isn't selling well in carrier stores.

Despite Google already giving very high kickbacks to salespeople, the sales of the Pixel 6 still didn't increase by a large margin. There's another report saying that one salesman sold Pixel 6 devices to people looking for Samsung Galaxy S22 models but it went out of stock.

So one question, is Pixel 6 a successful product or not? Google said on their side, it reach its new high since December 2019, when at that time they are selling Pixel 4 models.

Google releases instructions on how to safely update Android 13 on your Pixel 6
9To5Google

Since the A/B partition scheme has two bootloaders for each slot with one being your old Android system without the anti-rollback, you will have additional steps to prevent your device from being bricked if the active slot with Android 13 fails to boot.

According to Google, you "don't need to do any action right now" if you had used the Android 13 OTA, as the next update will overwrite the old bootloader without anti-rollback with there being a "very low chance of running into the issue for the overwhelming majority of users with locked bootloaders."

If you would like to be safe though, or if you tinker with your device, the recommended way after a successful boot to Android 13 is to sideload the full OTA image corresponding to that build and reboot the device to ensure that both slots have a bootable image.

Alternatively, you could try flashing the bootloader to the other slot using fastboot as specified on the Google Developer site.

Google releases "Developer Support" builds based on Android 12/12L with Android 13 bootloader

Pixel 6 series devices will be able to run to these builds with older Android versions without tripping the anti-rollback. The builds are focused on developers, so they won't get updated, nor they're CTS approved.

Pixel 6/6 Pro users can flash an Android 12 build with February 2022 security patch (SQ1D.220205.004.X2), or Android 12L with July 2022 security patch (SQ3A.220705.004.X2).

Pixel 6a users can only flash an Android 12L build with the June patch (SD2A.220601.004.X2).

The March 2023 Security Patch for Pixel 6 series could come on the 20th of March.
Source

Google had issues in the past with delayed updates for the Pixel 6, like with the Android 12L update. (it took Google two weeks for that one)

It seems like they are having some issues again, as a Google Support person has told on the chat that the March 2023 update for the Pixel 6 series devices will come on the 20th of March 2023.

Take this information with a pinch of salt, as it could not be accurate,
