To clarify.
No commencement order for Section 45 of the Electoral Reform Act 2022 has yet been issued , as of 4th November 2022.
A commencement order is required for that section of the Act to be implemented.
That section of the Act stipulates that, for registration of new political party that is seeking to contest in General Elections, that party must have a registered party member elected as a TD in 'Dáil Éireann', or elected as a MEP, at the time of the application for registration.
See the text of Section 45 b of the Act above.
Such a Commencement Order can be issued at any time by the relevant Minister, at the stroke of a pen 🖊
