ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਨੇ ਜਾਤੀ ਅਧਾਰਿਤ ਜਾਂ ਹੋਰ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਦੇ ਹਵਾਲੇ ਉਤੇ ਰੱਖੇ 56 ਸਕੂਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਬਦਲਣ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ। ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਹੀਦਾਂ ਜਾਂ ਹੋਰ ਸ਼ਖ਼ਸੀਅਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਉਤੇ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਸਕੂਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਰੱਖਣ ਦੇ ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ।
