UPPCS Prelims 2026 | ~85 Days Remaining
The Prelims clock is ticking it’s time to shift your preparation into Prelims mode.
But before jumping straight into revision, MCQs and test series, spend some time understanding the PYQs.
A subject-wise question distribution can tell you which subjects carry more weight, but it cannot tell you how UPPCS frames its questions.
That understanding comes only from analysing year-wise PYQs.
What to do now:
• Analyse at least the last 2–3 years of PYQs
• Identify recurring themes and important areas
• Observe the nature, difficulty and framing of questions
• Understand what UPPCS expects you to actually prepare
Once you understand the PYQ pattern, your Prelims preparation becomes far more targeted. You’ll know what to study, what to prioritise and what not to overdo.
With roughly 85 days left, Prelims should now become your immediate priority.
Study smart. Analyse PYQs. Revise repeatedly. Practice consistently.

A new Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) structure is set to apply to certain high-value UPI transactions.
Key Points:
• Above ₹2,000: 0.4% MDR for eligible mid-to-large merchants.
• Exempt: Small merchants, P2P transactions and merchant payments up to ₹2,000.
• Special sectors: Railways, Telecom, Insurance, Fuel & Agriculture — ₹5 flat MDR above ₹2,000.
• Customer protection: MDR should not be passed on to customers.
• Maximum cap: MDR capped at ₹300 per transaction for transactions of ₹75,000 or more.
The concern:
Even if merchants cannot explicitly charge MDR, they may potentially:
→ Increase product/service prices
→ Discourage UPI payments for high-value purchases
→ Push customers towards cash
→ Cite technical issues or “UPI not working”
→ Prefer cash transactions, potentially increasing the risk of under-reporting and informal payments
This could create a policy paradox: a measure intended to make the UPI ecosystem financially sustainable could, if poorly implemented, create incentives that weaken digital-payment adoption and financial transparency.
