Laois gardaí are investigating an attempted abduction of a woman on the 26th of April on a local road in the Eyne area, between Mountmellick and Portlaoise.

The woman was out for a run on a bright evening after work when a driver passed, stopped his car and waited for her around a bend.

When she turned the corner, the man crossed the road with his arms outstretched and made an attempt to grab her. When the woman shouted at him to get back into his car, he kept his arms up and made another movement to grab her.

Fortunately, the shocked woman managed to run to a house nearby and was helped by residents.

The saloon car had an Irish registration and the man appeared to be either Irish or Eastern European, possibly aged in his 40s. The Laois Nationalist has agreed not to publish more specific details while the Garda investigation is underway.

The woman told the Laois Nationalist: “I want people to be alert for this person and for him to be stopped, before something incomprehensible happens another girl or woman. I have expressed the same concerns to the guards.”

“I don’t know if I will ever feel comfortable running on my own again. What worries me too is that this could happen to anyone out for a walk in broad daylight and others mightn’t be able to sprint like I can.”

A record-breaking 610 international protection applicants arrived in Ireland for the week ending 5 May 2024. If this rate keeps up, we could be looking at a figure of 30,000 by the end of the year.

36% of arrivals (222) are of Nigerian origin. Nigerians have been the largest group of rejected asylum seekers in Ireland for over 25 years which successive Irish governments have done nothing about except call Irish people racist for objecting.

58 people arrived from Jordan, presumably via Britain through the use of their Electronic Travel Authorisation scheme. Looks like that's becoming a trend and we will continue to see those numbers increase.

Ireland needs a Rwanda Plan.

The allegations are this foreign man tried to snatch a kid from a children's playground in the Grand Canal Dock area, probably the one beside the Marker luxury hotel as you can see it in the footage.

He appears to be exhibiting abnormal behavior similar to the foreigner who is alleged to have snatched a baby from a pram on Sheriff St one week ago.

Yesterday, footage circulated of a Ukrainian man getting a beating in Cork after serious allegations were made against him of doing unspeakable things to a boy in a disabled toilet stall in Merchant's Quay shopping centre. Supposedly he was questioned for six hours and released.

All the media could tell us is that gardaí "have confirmed that an investigation is underway following an incident of alleged assault" and that "no further information has been made available".

The frequency of incidents like this is startling especially as there seems to be an effort to brush them under the carpet, and this is causing a great deal of unease among the public.

Allegations are this foreigner was flashing kids around Dorset St.

Local election candidate for Finglas, Gavin Pepper, talks to three mothers who were witness to some of the events involving the child snatcher earlier.

They told Pepper that the man had been spotted at the Markiewicz House flats on Townsend St at around 8am acting suspiciously, checking out a young girl on a swing and walking around some babies in their prams.

He then left but returned at 3pm and started peering in people's windows. One mother confronted him and told him to fuck off and he tried to grab her. He then chased another mother and her child. Gardaí were called but never arrived to investigate.

Then later they heard he had tried to abduct two kids from the playground in the docklands. The mothers believe this wouldn't have happened if the gardaí had shown up when they requested them.

They also suspect he may have been just released from custody as they heard one garda remark:

"Oh you again, we only let you out at 8 o'clock this morning."
