Gardaí in hazmat suits at the scene of an incident outside the Irish Times offices on Tara Street in which a man sustained serious injuries in an apparent knife attack where a number of homeless men had been sleeping in tents. A significant amount of blood was visible on the footpath close to the scene.

It’s understood that the injured man (40s) was stabbed inside the tent by another man. Emergency services arrived at the scene soon after the incident, and the man was transferred to St James’s Hospital.

A resident near the International Protection Office on Mount Street describes what it's like living close to the migrant slum.

"They've attacked one of my female tenants."

"There are 220 individuals living there right now, all men of various ages. They sell drugs, they have gangs, they have fighting. They had a scabies outbreak about two months ago that hospitalised six people."

Investigation launched after a 50 year old Albanian rapist who was released from Cloverhill prison today despite there being a deportation order for him.

Sources say prison bosses are scrambling for answers after the rapist, who was on remand in relation to the deportation order, was allowed to walk out the door of the prison.

The rapist was found guilty of raping a woman who he’d agreed to meet for a coffee in a Leinster town in the summer of 2017.

In a victim impact statement the woman said in the immediate aftermath of the rape she just wanted to die. “I had asked God to let me sleep and not wake up again”.

She said she no longer wanted to live in that town, which forced her into making her family homeless and moving to live in a hotel in another town.

The woman said she was mentally unwell and her children had no idea what was wrong with her.

She said she cleans herself a number of times a day. She described trying to clean herself by burning her skin and going on sunbeds in attempt to do this.

Albania has been one of the top countries of origin for asylum swindlers in Ireland in recent years with a typical rejection rate of 99%, yet Albanian was one of the languages which Minister Roderic O'Gorman launched his white paper to end Direct Provision in, committing to provide all asylum seekers from Albania with their own homes within four months of their arrival.

In 2022, Albanian Direct Provision resident and gangster Ndricim Qema was nabbed for facilitating people smuggling operations into Ireland. Arranging flights and forged Italian papers at a cost of €5,000 to €10,000, arrivals would dump documentation on coming to Dublin Airport and claim asylum.

Also in 2022, Minister Helen McEntee issued a blanket amnesty to 3,000 asylum seekers who were in the Direct Provision system for over two years in order to clear the system out for the launch of Roderic O'Gorman's White Paper under advice by Catherine Day, head of the government's expert advisory group on asylum.

In the UK, Albanian criminals make up the largest nationality in the prison system.

A High Court judge has criticised the Department of Justice for failing to inform a Kurdish asylum seeker from Iraq that he needed to register as a sex offender in Ireland when he moved to Ireland from the UK in 2021 after being convicted of a sexual offence four months after he arrived there in 2018.

The 23-year-old was one of two migrants who successfully argued that he should not be sent back to the UK due to the risk of being sent to Rwanda.

An asylum seeker from Afghanistan who is living a Dublin apartment with two others says he's waiting to be given his own house before he brings his wife and six children over to Ireland under the family reunification programme.

Afghans are expedited through the asylum system in Ireland with nearly all of them being granted refugee status. Afghanistan has a population of 41 million.
