Theresa Murphy, a 66-year-old grandmother in Newtownmountkennedy whose daughter was peppersprayed on Thursday evening, says she will never watch RTÉ again and her faith in the gardaí has gone.

"I never in my lifetime thought that my daughter would be chased across fields like the Black and Tans chased my father. These are supposed to be the people that protect us. My faith in the gardaí has sadly gone."

Murphy told Philip Dwyer that she's out protesting today for the future of her seven grandchildren.

The NGO sector are trying to use human rights law and the security vulnerability created by the last plantation to ensure there's a free flow of illegals getting to Dublin by the backdoor for the new one.

The UK Government has said it would not accept any asylum seekers refused entry into Ireland that have come from the European Union.

Speaking to LBC, a government source said: "We won't accept any asylum returns from the EU via Ireland until the EU accepts that we can send them back to France.
