Conor McGregor getting some bants in after Senator Eileen Flynn said she wouldn't nominate him to wash the dishes.
"Senator, I nominate you to brush your teeth and see the dentist."
McGregor was responding to a report in the Sun newspaper which said no Senator or TD would back his bid for the presidency. The MMA star responded that they should subsequently prepare to be replaced in the next elections.

Gardaรญ asked to collect ethnicity data to โdispel far-right mythsโ.
โThe calls for the recording of ethnicity data in the criminal justice system have traditionally come from those who fear that there may be an undue policing focus on ethnic minorities.
โThe research underway will hopefully contribute to providing reassurance to minority communities in this regard, and may also help to dispel myths regarding the level of crime carried out by migrants in Irish society,โ the spokesman added.

They don't sound so convinced themselves.

The Irish Times suddenly relieved the Irish diaspora cannot vote in presidential elections.
No resistance to foreigners (some of whom we are assured are only here temporarily) voting in the local elections though.

Cabinet warned changing the definition of family to any "durable relationship" in the constitution could affect the family reunification program.
Since 2015, all asylum seekers granted refugee status or subsidiary protection can apply for family reunification, where a family is defined as someone's spouse, parents, and any children under 18.
Prior to 2015, the definition of family for the purposes of family reunification also included grandparents, children over 18, siblings, nephews, and nieces.
Minister David Stanton told the Dรกil that this definition of family resulted in refugees bringing an average number of 20 family members to Ireland. The highest case was over 70. Local authorities were struggling to house them all, so the govt decided to reduce the scope.
However, the NGO sector want to revert to the old definition of family again, so the referendum to expand the definition of family in the constitution could give them more options to do this.

Fine Gael TD Neale Richmond admitting that the government's desired change for the definition of family in the constitution to 'any durable relationship' is in part aimed at expanding the eligibility scope for family reunification applications for immigrants.
"This has serious consequences, particularly when we think of immigration law and proving that someone is a family member...or family reunification. This will allow that to be accommodated as well."
The referendum to amend the constitution is planned to take place on the 8th of March, 2024 (International Women's Day).

Conor McGregor backs opposition to plan for asylum seekers at a Donegal B&B, warns Varadkar that he is "harbouring the ruination of Ireland."
Ocean FM first broke the news yesterday that a one year contract had been signed to accommodate 90 single males at the 29 bedroom Cavangarden House near Ballyshannon, from the 20th of December.
The early Georgian era residence is surrounded by 380 acres of working farmland and maintains its period character with antique furniture, grand gardens and a tree lined entrance.
The property was originally built by the Atkinsons on lands taken during the previous plantation from the ร Clรฉirigh family, and has proved a popular spot for tourists in recent times with many amenities nearby like golf, fishing and horse riding.
Locals are meeting tonight at 8pm in the Breesy Centre, Cashelard to discuss a plan of action. All are welcome, including local representatives.
