Meanwhile, we are subjected to media spin which falsely claimed foreigners and non-whites receive longer jail sentences than Irish people.

So the Brazilian guy gets interviews plastered across the media and a โ‚ฌ350K gofundme while the Irish guy's wife gets told to shut up because it could affect the case. Apparently, all the French kid got was a phone call from Macron. The crรจche worker is still in hospital.

I don't want to take anything away from the Brazilian (and he wasn't responsible for the gofundme) but there's a lot of resentment out there that only he was deemed worthy of being pedestalised in New Ireland.

Everything reported so far about the chief suspect in the spree stabbing in Dublin on Thursday:

๐Ÿ”น He was once subject of a deportation order. The man, originally from Algeria, was first arrested in 2003. However, after a judicial review in the High Court his deportation order was revoked.

๐Ÿ”น In 2008 the Department of Justice granted him leave to stay in Ireland. One source said: โ€œHe was due to be deported 20 years ago, but fought the order for five years. He eventually obtained an Irish passport. He is a naturalised Irish citizen.โ€

๐Ÿ”น The Daily Mail/Extra report he's in his late 40s while the London Times reports he's in his 50s.

๐Ÿ”น Detectives have established he loitered around a back gate to Gaelscoil Cholaiste Mhuire on Dublinโ€™s Parnell Square East for around 10 minutes on Thursday โ€“ and then to the front before carrying out the shocking attack.

๐Ÿ”น He watched as a group of children (aged 5 to 6) lined up at the entrance to the school for a minute before pouncing, stabbing a five-year-old girl first and then attacking a school worker who went to save her. He then turned to attack two more children before he was overpowered by several passersby.

๐Ÿ”น It is understood that the man has no connection to the school, its staff, or the pupils.

๐Ÿ”น Gardaรญ are still trying to establish a motive for the attack but do not suspect a terror link. They believe at this stage the he has serious mental health issues.

๐Ÿ”น A family member of the suspect contacted gardaรญ hours after Thursdayโ€™s attack to tell them he had been a normal man until he suffered a brain tumour two years ago.

๐Ÿ”น The frantic family member said the man started to suffer from acute mental health problems after the brain tumour โ€“ and his life spiralled out of control.

๐Ÿ”น He has no criminal convictions but has come to Garda attention several times in the past year. The latest incident involved possession of a knife, as well as criminal damage to a car.

๐Ÿ”น He appeared in Dublin District Court in May over the incidents. The judge in the case heard all the evidence, but made no order. That means he was not convicted of any offence.

๐Ÿ”น A no-order decision is usually made when a judge rules that there was a significant mental health aspect to the case.

๐Ÿ”น One source said: "It is not accurate to say that this man was constantly causing trouble but he was known to officers in the area since those incidents in May."

๐Ÿ”น He was living in Dublin City Council hostel accommodation in the inner city before he went on the rampage and gardaรญ searched that property yesterday for clues, seizing a mobile phone and a laptop connected to the suspect. He had another address before that on the south side of the city.

๐Ÿ”น He remains in hospital after he was tackled to the ground and subdued by passers-by. Officers are guarding him.

๐Ÿ”น As soon as he is medically fit, sources have said that detectives from Store Street would arrest him on suspicion of the attempted murder of five people.

Some additional detail about suspect in the stabbing spree in Dublin:

๐Ÿ”น The Sunday World reports the Algerian was embroiled in a row over his social welfare payments in recent weeks and gardaรญ were made aware he was โ€˜deeply unhappy and agitatedโ€™ about the decision which had the effect of reducing his weekly income from the State.

๐Ÿ”น โ€œIt would certainly have acted as a significant stressor for him and itโ€™s a decision that was made only in recent weeks,โ€ a source confirmed.

๐Ÿ”น A profile together by gardaรญ identified him as a โ€˜non-political, non-religious introvertโ€™.

๐Ÿ”น โ€œHe didnโ€™t attend church or a mosque and there is no evidence of any kind of views to the extreme left or right. Also, when the property in which he lived was searched, there was nothing of note found," a source said.

๐Ÿ”น He had his brain tumour removed several years ago.

๐Ÿ”น The Sunday World reports his age is 49.

๐Ÿ”น He has been in an induced coma since the attack.

๐Ÿ”น In September, Dublin District Court heard a social welfare disagreement was what prompted an Angolan man to be charged with stabbing a German tourist at Dublin airport eight times with a two and half inch blade while telling the man "I'm going to kill you". Kasonga Mbuyi made no reply to charge but responded, "I was looking for help."

At its highest point Sinn Fรฉin had support from 36 per cent of the likely voting electorate โ€“ 17 per cent ahead of the nearest government party at that time.

Today, Sinn Fรฉin support stands at 29 per cent, moving down three per cent since October.

>The decline in support this month is very much being driven by younger voters aged 18-34, particularly those in more upmarket social groups and in Dublin.

>The 18- to 34-year-old was once a key voter for Sinn Fรฉin, but now support for the party among this group is actually lower than that in the 35- to 54-year-old age groups.

>It certainly appears that this is more serious than a once-off reaction.
