A Moroccan man, wanted in Germany for arson, subjected a former partner to hours of beatings and kickings on November 13, last year. Soufiane Mountassir (39), then forced the woman into a car boot, repeatedly punching and smashing her face against the vehicle’s interior. The incident took place in the Dublin 7 area.

Mountassir, with an address at a Mountjoy Square hostel, had been drinking, taking Dalmane and cocaine, and smoking cannabis throughout the day of the attack.

He had arrived in Dublin in June 2022 to claim asylum after travelling from Glasgow to Belfast. Previously, he lived and worked in Rome, Italy for 14 years.

The judge heard at his bail hearing last December that the woman was “covered in blood” and visibly distressed and frightened. It was alleged he had “integrated himself” into the her home within a week of meeting her.

Sources have told me that Séamus 'Banty' McEnaney recently purchased the Ripley Court Hotel on Talbot St in Dublin, as well as The Charles Stewart Guesthouse opposite the Garden of Remembrance on Parnell Square, for a total of €30 million.

The Mirror reported that the ex-Monaghan manager's company Brimwood Ltd received €15.78million for accommodating 496 asylum seekers in 2020 across eight properties in Monagan, Meath, Louth, Cavan and Dublin.

According to a confidential document accidentally released by a Dáil Committee, Brimwood pulled in €1,036,020 a month hosting asylum seekers across six properties in 2022.

Filthy lucre in the new plantation of Ireland.

Tensions continuing to escalate on O'Connell Street.

Helen McEntee is going to have to announce increased funding for the Community Safety Partnership and assure the public that Dublin is a safe city again if this keeps up.

Not sure the public will buy it.
