The reaction from Jozef Puska's parents to being found guilty of the murder of Ashling Murphy:

Puska's family were upset and angry. His father spoke loudly in Slovak. An elderly woman held up small cross and shook it at people saying "everyone in this room, Jesus."

Puska told the court his parents drove him from Mucklagh to their apartment in Crumlin on the night he murdered Ashling Murphy and that he had asked family members to burn his clothes.

In June, Jozef Puska's partner Lucia Istokova (34) and his two brothers Marek (34) & Lubomir (35) appeared in court in connection with the investigation into the murder of Ashling Murphy, and were charged with failing to disclose information to gardaí between the 12th and 14th of January, 2022.

Two other Slovakian nationals, Jozefina Grundzova (33) and Viera Gaziova (38) were charged with impeding the apprehension or prosecution of a person between the same dates.

None were called to give evidence during Jozef Puska's trial.

Former Neighbours of Josef Puska in Mucklagh have told the Daily Mail that the couple 'had no respect' for their five-bedroom council house, which was situated in a well-kept cul-de-sac in Lynally Grove.

One elderly resident told the Mail: 'I'd be very happy if I never hear that bastard's name ever again.

'I remember him being here. I remember the mess that was in the front of the house, bags of rubbish everywhere.'

'There were always people coming and going at all hours. There was noise. There were problems with rats and everything.'

A source told the Mail that Puska, who insisted on an interpreter to help him understand the court proceedings, appeared to have a better grasp of English when arguing for a bigger home than the 'broken understanding' he displayed at the trial.

Jozef Puska is also suspected of assaulting another woman in the UK but was never convicted.

He told the court he only lived in Prague before 'somehow' coming to Ireland.

Following his arrest, gardaí established that Puska had sent messages to women across Offaly on the Badoo app. Investigators suspect he was using the app to identify other women to kill.

But you can see the attraction of Ireland for the 37,500 Roma who live here despite only 16.7% self-reporting as finding employment according to Pavee Point, who blame the low rate on discrimination by Irish people.

A neighbour in Puska's Slovakian village told a reporter that the family moved to Ireland "to find a better life," because in Slovakia "you can't live decently when you don't have a job" and that "they don't make distinctions" in Ireland.

He's wrong on the last point. Distinctions are made here. For Roma, the State delivers increased supports including supplementary health care while also funding NGOs to lobby in their interest and provide instruction on how to max their benefits.

Jozef Puska ‘will never be free in Ireland’

One security source told The Sunday Times: “Puska will most likely be banned for up to ten years by the justice minister of the day once he has served his sentence. And that ban can then be renewed. The standard ban is three to five years, but in a case like Puska’s it will be more like ten years because of the seriousness of the crime.

“Removal orders are carried out under an EU 2004 directive. He will be sent straight back to Slovakia in handcuffs accompanied by gardai — his feet will never again touch the ground in Ireland as a free man.”

Why can't they do that for all of them?

This report also says Puska originally claimed he killed Ashling Murphy when she tried to stop him from stabbing himself in attempted suicide but this evidence was not disclosed at his trial for legal reasons. Gardaí believe he made up the story in anticipation of his arrest.

Jozef Puska had never done a day’s work while in Ireland and was on disability benefits since his arrival in 2013, with his wife and children.

The State had the authority to deport his entire family but opted not to, just like the 30%-40% of people registering as homeless in Ireland every month who are recently arrived immigrants with no means to support themselves.

The government encourages and facilitates the worst the EU has to offer to move here and abuse our generosity, or in Puska's case, murder our best. Then to twist the knife in, there are NGOs at the ready to deflect blame onto us.

A foreign man allegedly attacked an elderly woman and her son in a pastry shop in Fairview, Dublin today.

Some staff members and customers managed to secure him, but he allegedly warned them that when 'his people' got there they were 'all going to die'.

They subsequently uncovered that the man had in his possession a number of IDs, wallets and bank cards.

Rosslare locals are to begin picketing all entrances to the old Great Southern Hotel site from today and plans are in place to peacefully disrupt the flow of traffic in and out of Rosslare Port on Saturday afternoon.

The escalation comes after Minister Roderic O’Gorman told the residents last night that he "will not and cannot walk away" from offers of property which can be used for accommodating so-called refugees.

However, he also admitted that no contracts have been signed with the property owners as yet.
