The prosecution has begun outlining its case in the trial Jozef Puska, accused of the murder of Ashling Murphy last year.
Anne-Marie Lawlor SC told jurors that Ashling Murphy was stabbed 11 times to the right side of her neck and there was no prior connection between her and Jozef Puska.
She said photos of the scene will show it "covered in briars" which is significant because Puska had cuts on every exposed part of his body".
"A bicycle was left at the scene," she says, adding that the prosecution will say it was Josef Puska's bike.
"He can be seen on CCTV cycling around the area ... his DNA was on the handlebars".
"you will hear that his DNA was found under fingernails of Ashling Murphy ... forensic scientists will explain ... is a match and there is a 1/14,000 chance that it was someone else".
"In the course of engagement with gardaรญ, prosecution say they have what amounts to an admission through an interpreter, when he said: "I did it, I murdered, I am the murderer"".

They keep telling black people that they have 'Irish roots' because one of their ancestors was a British planter in Ireland.
Then they want to move here 'to explore their heritage' but it's never about their heritage of colonialism. This woman even studied anthropology and she hasn't figured it out.
She also supports the new plantation of Ireland which makes sense:
โA lot of my friends are people who are from different countries and different backgrounds. Thatโs been the best part that Dublin is such a multicultural city and to participate in the reality that we have a cross-cultural and global world and we must have those conversations.โ

The Irish Independent & RTE Primetime ran a poll of Muslims living in Ireland back in 2006. They haven't repeated it but they know exactly what they're letting in:
๐น Over half of young Muslims (57%) believed Ireland should become an Islamic State.
๐น 28% of young Muslims aged between 16 and 26 admitted to believing violence for political ends was sometimes justified.
The good news (which the Indo ran with as the headline) was that we were told the majority of them are very happy here...isn't that nice!
We are also told that allowing these people to settle in Ireland in unlimited numbers and letting them vote in our elections to shape the direction of our nation without even requiring citizenship 'strengthens democracy'.
In 2018, the ESRI published a study titled "Attitudes to Diversity in Ireland".
๐ท 59% of the Irish public said they wanted just a few or no Muslims to be allowed to migrate to Ireland.
But unfortunately, what also 'strengthens democracy' is to ignore the will of the people and make us as vulnerable as every other 'rule-of-law' European country which has beaten down this path before us, no lessons learned.

The cross-examination of the second witness in the Ashling Murphy murder trial suggests the defence's case.
Two female joggers who came upon the scene while Ashling Murphy was still alive saw Jozef Puzka crouching over her.
"His face, his teeth, they were kind of grinding and he shouted "get away"...The girl, she was lying on the ground. I couldn't hear her scream. Her legs, she was kicking so hard. She was crying out for help. She was kicking like a scissors. She was moving with whatever part of body she could. At that point when I saw what was happening. I thought this guy was going to rape her to be honest. I said to him "I have my phone on me, I'm calling the guards, get off her". He kind of lunged... as if to frighten us."
The women fled for help.
The defence is contending that Puska was trying to assist Ashling Murphy and was in pain after being cut by the briars which the witness mistook for anger.
