RTÉ went into full assault mode yesterday against the news that Trump is taking Hydroxychloroquine. One of experts the Today Show had on stated:
"There is absolutely no data to support its use in Covid infection"
She listed a couple of studies to support her claims but didn't mention this study from South Korea where patients were treated to hydroxychloroquine and a course of antibiotics. It concluded that that HQ with antibiotics was associated with better clinical outcomes in terms of viral clearance, hospital stay, and cough symptom resolution compared to Lop/R with antibiotics or conservative treatment.

Trump says he is taking hydroxychloroquine and Zinc. This is his full presser on the issue.

For the record, I can't say whether or not hydoxychloroquine is affective at treating Covid-19 but to state that there are no studies suggesting as much is fake news.

Is Charlie Flanagan lying about the HSE's support for moving asylum seekers to Caherciveen.
Today, he told Sarah McInerney that asylum seekers were relocated from the hotels in Dublin "with the advice and guidance of the experts — both the HSE and officials in public health."
Previously, TDs Pa Daly and Norma Foley have both stated that they have been infomred that the HSE had serious reservations about the move, that it was not recommended and contrary to the wisdom and advice the HSE.

2005 Flashback: A NIGERIAN man who carried out a circumcision on a month-old baby, who later bled to death, walked free from court yesterday.
The trial heard that baby Callis Osagaje had bled to death following the circumcision carried out on the kitchen table of his home at Summerhill Mews, Waterford, on August 17, 2003.
After one and a half hours of deliberation the jury of 10 men and two women returned a not guilty verdict in the case which has been described as a case where there was a clash of two cultures.
The solicitor said his client wished to thank the jury who he said had a very difficult task. "They have had to shirk off their Western mores and ways and have done a magnificent job as far as Osagie is concerned.
"It has been a real test of justice here because of the difficulty from whence an all-white jury were coming," Mr Chesser said.
"The judge put it so simply when he said they had to shake off their Western values and put themselves in the place of Osagie here."

"..the primary motivation to move people from Dublin to Caherciveen was to "de-risk people"...in actual fact, you were in an area where it was relatively covid-19 free and literally Covid-19 was transported on a bus from Dublin to Caherciveen."

According to Charlie Flanagan, the HSE failed to inform the Dept of Justice that there was a case of Covid-19 at the Travel Lodge Hotel in Dublin where asylum seekers were staying before being moved to Caherciveen. Flanagan says the HSE nationally signed off on moving the asylum seekers, overruling the advice of HSE South.

A man of strictly no description has been arrested and around €60,000 has been frozen in a bank account as part of an investigation into an alleged bogus legal firm offering immigration services in the Blessington area of Co Wicklow on Tuesday.
Gardaí discovered that in many cases the victims of the bogus legal firm were people attempting to regularise their status in Ireland.
It is understood they had paid fees between €1,000 and €3,000 to the firm.
