The number of HIV diagnoses has jumped from an average of 40 new cases per month to 100 per month due in large part to the influx of Ukrainians into Ireland over past 19 months.
As of June 6th, of the estimated 509 Ukrainian refugees living with HIV, 222 are men and 287 are female.
382 out of these 509 Ukrainians were aware they had HIV before arriving in Ireland.
The GBD estimated that 0.63 per cent of the total Ukrainian population were living with HIV in 2019. This matches the rate of HIV among Ukrainians in Ireland. Ireland's rate is 0.011 per cent.
According to the HSPC, the majority of all HIV diagnoses in Ireland occur in migrants and the key group affected is gay men.
In 2018, HIV Ireland reported that 76% of both heterosexual male and female cases were born in sub-Saharan Africa.

A Chinese student studying in Belfast has been scammed out of €230,000 by fraudsters posing as police from Beijing.
In a fake phone call made in recent weeks, the woman was told she was suspected of being involved in money laundering and two further individuals claiming to be from the ‘Beijing Police’ subsequently threatened her with arrest if she didn't hand over the money.
The fraudsters went to great lengths to make themselves appear genuine, and even went as far as dressing in Beijing police uniforms.
The PSNI received two similar reports last year of scammers who had targeted Chinese students studying in Belfast, defrauding the students out of €116,000.
That's a lot of cash for students to have on hand.

Locals in Sallins are continuing their protest outside the Waterways Hotel which is being renovated to accommodate single male asylum seekers at present.
Members of the Sallins Community Action Group protest all day from 6am to 7pm every day in rotating shifts. You can join their facebook group here.
The 79 room hotel could potentially accommodate up to 316 asylum seekers as hotels are typically used to sleep 4 per room. It is situated around the corner from a crèche and 1km from a mixed Catholic school.

The Irish Refugee Council has demanded Government build an extra 10,000 units of social housing each year to cope with the “increased numbers of international protection applicants in the coming decades,” who will arrive in large part due to “slow-onset climate impacts by 2050”.
They also want Government to provide an additional €109 million to the HAP budget so asylum seekers can exit the Direct Provision system and access the private rental market.
The also request €100,000 a year for the new position of a ‘Refugee Response Director’ and a €26.6 million increase in the daily allowance of asylum seekers already in the system.

Indians were protesting in Citywest last Friday though it wasn't clear why as their slogans were made via google translate. They suggest it was over issues with the Youngfella community though.
Clip 1. was posted by a redditor whose prior thread about what his problems are was deleted but he blamed a lack of free condoms for whatever they are.
Clip 2. was posted by a Solidarity councillor who attended the protest as did two TDs. I don't remember Balbriggan locals getting any support when they protested African gangs terrorising their community. I do remember them being called racist.
Clip 3. was a local father's reaction driving past.
It could be a case of culture shock. The brochures selling Ireland are full of charming people amid endless greenery but then you move here and there are hoodies on dirt bikes shouting 'watch it!' as they brapp past you because all their horse pastures have been concreted over. I'm hearing as much as 80% of some new builds are going to Indians out that way.
