Just to give you an idea of what's coming down the tracks after the hate speech legislation โ these are excerpts from the Online Safety and Media Regulation Act 2022.
It was signed into law by the President in February and is in the process of being implemented.
Here's what it gives the new Media Regulator the authority to demand websites remove:
๐น Online content by which a person bullies or humiliates another person.
๐น Online content which could cause a risk of significant harm to a person's mental health.
๐น Online content which is threatening, abusive or insulting.
๐น Online content by which a person harasses another.
A committee recommended that 'disinformation' be included as a category of harmful online content but were told this is being addressed through EU legislation.

At least five people, including four children were injured with a knife in a park near Lake Annecy in the Alpine region of France at 9:45 this morning.
Le Figaro reports the assailant is believed to be a 32-year-old Syrian male asylum seeker with no police record who submitted his asylum application in November 2022 but had obtained refugee status in Sweden, his request having been refused in France.
Edit: Reports are now naming the assailant as Abdalmasih H. and also say his child victims were around three years old and in kindergarten. Several classes of school children were present in the park on Lake Annecy at the time. A witness told 'France Bleu Pays de Savoie' that the children were โclearly his targetโ.
โAt first we all thought it was a set-up, but when people started screaming, we realized it was real.โ
Edit: Eight children and one adult are believed to be have been injured in total.

Syrian "professional" at work
โ ๏ธ Attention, brutal video!
๐ฅ A recording of the brutal attack of the foreigner who seriously injured 6 children today in Annecy, France
๐ These images, the desperate cries of the mother, this is the reality of multiculturalism for which our leaders stand.
๐ Why I show these scenes? Because we have also been shown a thousand times pictures of a drowned Arab child (his parents were to blame) and a Black drug dealer and felon.
โ๏ธDiese The mainstream will not show scenes because it is - only in that case - "impious".
โ๏ธ The anger you feel is just and healthy. Your task is to channel it into productive political action instead of senseless hate on the net.

Fawaz Gerges, Professor of International Relations at the London School of Economics, tells Sky news his concern is that 'the far-right' in France might use the stabbying spree in Annecy this morning, in which several young children were injured, for political capital.
The Sky News host then queried why the French police would reveal the assailant was a Syrian refugee at all. Gerges responded that the UK police would know not to.
Gerges was also eager to note that the anti-terrorism police hadn't taken over investigation signalling that it perhaps wasn't an official terror attack as if that makes it any better. Three children are in a critical condition in intensive care.
Replies have been turned off but the post has currently racked up 795 quote tweets and counting.

A dangerous new law to target the "far-right"
I made a resolution at the beginning of the year to become more dangerous. To that end, I began 2023 with an article outlining why I thought this was not just a necessary step for me but should also be a consideration for many of you fine people too.

Annecy, France: It has now been revealed that the 31-year-old Syrian man, who stabbed two adults and four children between the ages of 22 months and three years yesterday, is a serial asylum shopper who had not only been granted refugee status in Sweden but also in Italy and Switzerland too.
Only France rejected his application on the grounds that he had received refugee status elsewhere in Europe.
That means while submitting to the application process in all these countries, none of them flagged up the possibility that he suffered mental health issues which could pose a threat to the public, or if they did, they didn't care and he was allowed to roam around Europe at his leisure.

The fine to refuse any of the so-called refugees the EU wants relocate to Ireland will cost us only โฌ20,00 per head under a new EU deal to reform the block's asylum laws.
That's a bargain.
Aside the the societal damage which is priceless, they each easily cost more than โฌ20,00 per year in housing, heating, healthcare, food, education, social welfare, policing, legal fees, NGOs, family reunification etc, so there's massive savings to be made by simply refusing every single last one of them.
This report also states that EU member states are now allowed to draw up their own list of safe countries which asylum seekers can be deported to.
We can even deport them to "transition countries" outside the EU if asylum seekers travelled through them, and the report gives an example of one such country being Tunisia.

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has said the Government can provide about 10,000 bed places in refurbished accommodation for refugees.
Modular homes are now "a reality," the Taoiseach said today, with the first such homes "ready for occupation now in Cork" and this programme will be scaled up.
"Weโre doing everything we can," Mr Varadkar said when asked what more the Government can do to house refugees.
Mr Varadkar also said, the 10,000 bed figure is for between now and the end of next year.
None will be available to homeless Irish people, those who are on housing lists, struggling to afford rent or couch surfers.
It comes after the EU fined Ireland โฌ1.5m for failing to accommodate 350 foreigners immediately upon arrival in the State.
