20% of the population were recorded as being born outside Ireland according to latest Irish Census results from the CSO.
🔹 There were 5,149,139 people in the State on Sunday, 03 April 2022, an 8% increase since April 2016.
🔹 The number of non-Irish citizens was 631,785. This is 12% of the usually resident population.
That's the key finding they'll read out on News reports. However, when you dig deeper into the stats you'll find this next one which they'll ignore as they did last time:
🔹 The number of people who usually lived in Ireland but were born elsewhere stood at 20% of the population (up from 17.3% in 2016).
🔹 This represented 1,017,437 people, an increase of 207,031 from six years previously.
That means they've given 40% of the foreigners living in Ireland Irish passports.
And Remember, the CSO does not provide an accurate count of the number of foreigners living in Ireland and does not provide data on the number of their children.
🔹 The biggest increases were recorded in the number of people born in India (up 35,673), Brazil (23,760) and Romania (13,758).
🔹 The number of people with dual Irish citizenship was 170,597 which represents a 63% increase from 2016.
🔹 The proportion of the population who identified Roman Catholic as their religion fell from 79% in 2016 to 69% in 2022.
So much for the Church's theory that immigrants would buttress falling Catholic numbers.
Poles are going home:
🔹 In 2022, the number of Polish people declined by 24% compared with the previous census, and the number of people with UK and Lithuanian citizenship also decreased.
🔹 169,604 people (3% of the total population) listed themselves as having 'no nationality' (included not stated) up from 71,933 in 2016 (135.8% increase) 🤷🏻♂️

Here's how RTÉ, The Irish Times and the Independent are reporting the census results.
Despite claiming their reporting will provide 'everything you need to know', they all omit the figure for foreign-born being 20% of population and only focus on 12% of the population being recorded as 'non-Irish' due to the massive free-for-all on passports which the government offers foreigners.
The most relevant figure is the 20% being foreign born but all of them conceal it. The journal didn't even mention migration as they were too focused on celebrating the decrease in Catholics, and neither did Newstalk.

🔹 Those who recorded themselves as 'other white' make up a further 9.9% of the population.
🔹 The non-CSO graphs above includes the 16,059 Roma in the 'other Asian' category. They are erroneously recorded as 'white' by the CSO.
🔹 6.2% of people did not state their ethnicity. That's quite high, not sure the explanation.
🔹 30% of 30-34 year olds and 29% of 35-39 year olds were recorded as non-Irish, other, mixed or not stated — the age demos with the highest non-Irish count.
🔹 Between 17% and 18% of children were recorded as non-Irish, other, mixed or not stated.

The European Commission thinks the CSO data on the number of Roma in Ireland is junk.
They estimated 37,500 Roma were living here when they calculated the funding they deserve while the CSO recorded 16,059 Roma living in Ireland in 2022 census.
Pavee Point says 83.3% of them are unemployed so they must have struggled to find employment opportunities in the tech sector and just decided to stay despite all the racism everywhere.
Likewise in 2016, while the CSO recorded 19,447 people with a Chinese background living in Ireland, the European Commission estimated the real figure was 60,000 to 100,000.

72 per cent of asylum seekers who have received a decision on their application so far this year were refused refugee status and subsidiary protection.
However, only 60-70 per cent of decisions were upheld on appeal and a percentage of rejected applicants were given permission to remain on “humanitarian or family grounds”.
Consequently, the Department of Justice estimates that approximately 50 per cent of asylum seekers who completed the process this year have been granted permission to remain in Ireland.
During questioning, the department’s deputy secretary general Doncha O’Sullivan told Senator Clonan that there was no systematic information on where failed asylum seekers go after they are rejected.
Mr Clonan said the State was being “irresponsible” on this issue and recommended that the department should engage with researchers on the matter.
Senator Lynn Ruane said asylum seekers claiming to be fleeing persecution for being LGBTQ had expressed fear or concern to her about the interview process, including being asked questions on whether they had frequented gay establishments in Dublin.
She said many may have had their sexuality extremely repressed in their country which means they may not necessarily be actively attending establishments or seeking partners in Ireland.
Because there couldn't be a more credible explanation...

A father says he caught a foreign man taking close-up photographs of children in a kiddies pool at Ballybunion beach.
The man, who was wearing a light-blue bucket hat pulled tightly over his head and dark sunglasses, said he could speak no English and had a Russian sounding accent.
He deleted the pictures after being confronted.
