There were 1,232 new international protection applicants in the month of January.

πŸ”Ή58% came from Africa.
πŸ”Ή24% came from Asia.
πŸ”Ή14% came From Europe.

πŸ”Ή50% were single males.

Nigeria has reclaimed its spot as the top country of origin for asylum applicants while Georgia has been pushed into 3rd place behind Algeria.

None of the top three have high grant rates. In 2017, not one Georgian, Nigerian or Algerian was granted refugee status when they all featured in the top ten.

Applicants from Afghanistan, Somalia and Syria are expedited through the asylum process and nearly all of them will receive refugee status and can then use the family reunification scheme.

Iran's presence in the top ten could be a signal of larger numbers to come due to the recent protests.

Dublin has the highest concentration of IPAS residents though they are not spread around evenly with the two south county Dublin constituencies and Dublin Bay North accommodating none.

47% of all current IPAS residents are single men.

Finglas Says No say they had no involvement in a fire which was started outside the old Fun Galaxy building tonight while they held their third all-night protest after hearing asylum seekers were to be moved into the building imminently on Friday.

Protester Gavin Pepper posted footage of the fire on twitter and said that that two people came out of nowhere with their faces covered and poured petrol at the front door. He stressed that Finglas Says No is a peaceful group and that it was not nice to see.

"That's not what we are about."

Earlier today, footage showed that the inside of the building had been sectioned off into what looked like 100+ cubicles.

During their 24 hour protest at the building, protesters said taxis and a bus were tured back after attempting to drop asylum seekers off.

Footage over the weekend showed protesters being served coddle from a van while asserting their intention not to leave until the govt reversed their decision to place asylum seekers in the building.

Shaykh Dr. Umar Al-Qadri breaks rank with Official Ireland; says it's not appropriate to teach gender identity issues to primary school children.

Some absolute seething in the replies.

Al-Qadri, who leads a small congregation out of a warehouse in the Coolmine industrial estate cemented his position as the regime's spokesperson for Islam in Ireland when he told the crowd gathered for a vigil for Aidan Moffitt and Michael Snee outside the DΓ‘il last April:

β€œWe come here to attest to our togetherness: to tell the world that we will face down the cruel dehumanisation and otherisation of LGBTQI people, together. That we will beat homophobia, together.”

He added β€œlet me be clear, neither will we let the racist far-right use these events to divide us because we know they do not care for LGBTQI rights, and as long as we stand together they will fall.”

Great to see East Wall out in high spirits and more determined than ever despite the absolutely Baltic weather conditions.

"Every week there are more and more groups. It might be just 20 people in one area who are standing up but as that grows, and as they keep piling people in, people will stand up...and we have lead the way since last November and we're still here in March."

"We have started the end of the gombeen politics, the end of the NGOs dictating what happens in this country."
