There's a whiff of regime engineering off the protest in Lismore yesterday, like it was the model protest they want others to replicate.

First off, RTÉ gave it top billing on the news cycle and had cameras and reporters on the ground ready for it (unlike the larger one in Artane yesterday).

RTÉ usually call these protests "anti-immigration" or "anti-refugee," but not this one. The protest is described as being against the "centre for asylum seekers" only. The word 'far-right' is not used once in the report.

Then look at the list of concerns they said protesters expressed:

That Direct Provision isn't good enough for the asylum seekers and the worry that they won't be provided with adequate services —"We won't allow the good name of Lismore to be associated with such a system that is the Direct Provision system in Ireland."

These are from the list of NGO-approved talking points the regime allows protesters to be concerned about, only they're played out now.

What used to happen when protests would spring up around the country after a community learned it was to become the next dumping ground is that NGO types would always move in and try manipulate them into serving their goals.

They'd get protesters to hold "End Direct Provision" placards, promising them if asylum seekers were to be given their own homes spread out around the country, then the only hotel in their town wouldn't have to be full of them. If protesters agreed, the NGOs would reward them by not calling them racist.

The other demands protesters were allowed to make were for faster processing times and quicker access to the labour market for "better integration" purposes. But the processing times were never the main problem, it was the lengthy appeals and non-existent deportation times.

So then it was announced after such huge "public support" the Direct Provision system was to be ended with Minister Roderic O'Gorman promising all asylum seekers their own homes within 4 months and Minister Helen McEntee granting any in the system over two years a blanket amnesty to clear the system out and start afresh.

Ukrainians aside, this then resulted in attracting the largest number of asylum applicants we've had arriving here since 2002 when the anchor baby racket was at its peak, and so now more DP centres are being set up than ever before much to the continuing delight of gombeen hoteliers and open-border enthusiasts.

🚨 Community Alert for the Cardiffsbridge Rd area of Finglas around Dunnes Stores.

African male described as being possibly Somali, wearing a long beige jacket with the hood up and grey trousers. He had dark hair with a moustache and carried a backpack.

He is reported to have been following women suspiciously this morning.

A separate African male who also looked Somali is reported to have been acting suspiciously in the area too. He had some sort of ear piece like the man in Cabra yesterday evening.

Coilte saying they want pine plantations the size of half of county Dublin planted and aren't against the idea of buying farms out to do it.

The Traveller community has been requested to join the Finglas protest on Cappagh Rd at 8PM tonight where a sexual assault is believed to have occurred last Friday morning. A halting site has been located just off the Cappagh Rd since the 90s.

There have been no reports of any arrests so far.

Dubliners were protesting outside 21 Aungier St tonight after learning that 60 asylum seekers are to accommodated in the building.

Now called The Staircase, the historic building is one of Dublin's oldest townhouses and dates back to 1660 when the street was first developed.

It originally belonged to Richard Parsons, 1st Earl of Rosse from Twickenham, Middlesex, a Freemason and Grandmaster of the Grand Lodge of Ireland who was a founder-member of the Hellfire Club.

It was rescued from near demolition and restored to a high standard by Dublin Civic Trust in the 1990s, preserving its medieval features such as timber beams, chimneys, and walls and has one of the best preserved seventeenth-century staircases in the city.

It was previously reported that the building was used by the Peter McVerry Trust to house homeless people but that no longer seems to be the plan, and like its original occupants, it'll be used to house foreigners instead.
