Around 300 to 400 showed up for a protest outside the old ESB office in East Wall this evening. After some speeches, protestors are now heading to Dublin port.

Speaking to The Journal this evening, local councillor Nial Ring said the group would be blocking traffic from entering the Port Tunnel until 6pm.

“The Minister has said he has no intention in shutting the facility and the residents want it shut on the basis it’s not fit for purpose. No other reason,” Ring said.

“The traffic is being blocked until 6pm. There’s been no traffic in or out of the tunnel for the last 20 minutes. The traffic is just chaotic now at this stage.”

He said the protest was “99% the residents”

“It’s just a peaceful protest. Looking at it now, the traffic I’d say is way past the Tom Clarke Bridge at this stage, but that’s what has to be done,” he said.

Ring added that the group are also planning to block the Port Tunnel on Wednesday and Friday.

Anyone who tells you they want an apolitical solution to a political problem is just trying to shield the politicians who created the mess and deny any real solution.

The only sure way to remove the men from the building is to not put them there in the first place. And the only way that's going to happen is by electing leaders who understand the asylum racket and seek to end it.

It's no solution to bus the men off somewhere else. More will come just as more have come. The regime has been facilitating this racket for the past 25 years and branding everyone who opposes it as fringe, far-right and racist to intimidate the public into submission.

99% of the protestors who blocked the port last night were locals according to Cllr Niall Ring, but that didn't deter Gary Gannon branding them far-right on Newstalk today.

The lad who took the video is saying he's been told they're all Ukrainian (as was Derek Blighe) but it's his belief a lot of them looked African (he estimated up to 85% were African in another post with 60% being women & children and the remainder being men).
