The chairman of the Cork City Homeless Group has told Red FM that Irish homeless people were kicked out the Commons Inn so the hotel could accommodate Ukrainians.
Tony told Neil Prendeville that the Irish people were given just 12 hours notice before they were kicked back out onto the streets, and said the number of Irish homeless people "bounced up" when Ukrainians started arriving in Ireland.
A female caller corroborated Tony's story, telling Neil Prendeville that she had met a homeless man who had been kicked out of the Commons Hotel and the woman he was with had been stabbed outside Cork Simon Community Emergency Shelter two days prior.
In April, it was revealed hoteliers were being offered between โฌ4,800 and โฌ6,000 a month per room to house Ukrainians. In July, it was reported the state was willing to pay hoteliers โฌ135 per night for single adult Ukrainians.

>If Ireland was the first point at which the migrants were discovered, they would have been afforded the opportunity to claim asylum here, however, itโs reported that the men opted not to do this and were to travel back to France on the same ferry on which they arrived. At this point, they will be turned over to the French authorities.
Even if they hadn't claimed asylum in France previously, they can still be deported there under the Dublin Agreement.
Interesting that it's happening at all though.
>A garda source confirmed it is a fairly regular occurrence, however, in the majority of cases the illegal immigrants opt to return to France when they are discovered, rather than claim asylum in Ireland.
Why are they giving them any option?

>A TAXI driver has been accused of raping a young woman in his cab after he picked her up in Dublin city centre and was driving her home.
>The accused, a married father in his late 40s, allegedly stopped the taxi, got out of the driver's seat and into the back where he raped the woman for eight minutes.
>When gardai questioned him, he insisted the sex was "entirely consensual," a court heard.
>Defence solicitor Danielle OโSullivan said her client could be waiting trial for two to three years in custody if refused bail.
>He had given a โfull accountโ in a garda statement asserting that the encounter between himself and the alleged victim was โfully consensual,โ she said.
>Judge Cronin said while it was a serious offence, there was insufficient evidence of a real risk and she did not consider it necessary to refuse bail. She set bail in the accused's own bond of โฌ500, with an independent surety of โฌ2,000.
This is Helen McEntee's supposedly new pro-women justice system.

The twitter account 'Ireland Against Fascism' is reporting that a charity shop in Merchant's Quay, Cork has ceased operating pending a review by Roderic O'Gorman's Dept of Equality on whether the shop is breaching discrimination laws by only offering free goods to Ukrainians.
This follows a complaint by Derek Blighe who posted a video entering the shop and taking a hat and gloves set for one of his children.
The Palyanytsya franchise was started in Dublin by Ruslan Mocharskyy, and several branches have since been opened up around the country. The Merchant's Quay branch opened on May 15th by a team of Ukrainians who have all been in Ireland for an average of 15 years. Deputy Lord Mayor Damian Boylan attended the opening.
It provides supplies such as clothes, toiletries and food, free of charge, but only to Ukrainians. Whether it also offers free goods to non-Ukrainians from Ukraine or Ukrainians who were here before the war started is unclear.

"Thereโs enough turf there for a three chimney house for 3 winters. Total cost of cutting and saving was 1360. Itโs a cash industry from start to finish. The government hates this of course. No vat, no tax, no licenses, no inspections, no state employees with index linked pensions to administer it. I wonโt freeze to death this winter. You shouldnโt either. Donโt be a stranger."

Ukrainian Store Closed in Cork
Late Stage Ireland
Red FM's Neil Prendeville confirms that the Palyanytsya store in Merchant's Quay, Cork, which offers free goods to Ukrainians, has been obliged to close due to the concerns of discrimination by Derek Blighe while the management seek legal advice.
"Following the concerns of Mr. Blighe, a legal interpretation is needed as the hub is operating differently to a charity shop because it provides free service only to those fleeing war."
Their website only says the store caters to "displaced Ukrainians" and "Ukrainian people" however.

The Irish language is so much spoken by the common people in the city of Cork and its neighbourhood, that an Englishman is apt to forget where he is and consider himself in a foreign city.

"It has often been observed that in their literature the insular Celts, and particularly the Irish, show a remarkable concern with the physical configuration of the land upon which they live. Every river and lake and well, every plain and hill and mountain has its own name, and each name evokes its own explanatory legend.
These legends constituted a distinct branch of native tradition known as dinnshenchas, โthe lore of placesโ ... The dinnshenchas is thus a kind of comprehensive topography, a legendary guide to the Irish landscape."
Proinsias Mac Cana, Celtic Mythology
A good article on Meon about this: Article 1, Article 2.

Derek Blighe | Red FM
Late Stage Ireland
Derek Blighe's conversation with Neill Prendeville was broadcast on Red FM this morning at around 10 o'clock.
Calls and texts responding to conversation then took up the remainder of the show which are well worth hearing. The vast majority were sympathetic towards Blighe.
I'll drop a few time stamps.
02:58 Prendeville begins his conversation Blighe.
29:47 Prendeville fact-checks some of the statements Blighe made, however I don't think Blighe ever said the majority of Ukrainians coming in are men (could be wrong). Blighe did mention one school dormitory having all Ukrainian men at 21:58.
Prendeville found three other statements to be accurate and confirmed Sweden to be the rape capital of Europe.
34:02 Prendeville starts reading texts and taking calls in response to the conversation.
40:02 A caller says the council bought the house he was kicked out of and he has no home now.
55:10 A wild Peter Sutherland name-check occurs.
