EU expert: Closing borders won't stop the growth of the covid-19 because you don't know who has it.

Agoritsa Baka, Senior Preparedness Expert at European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), told Seán O'Rourke on RTÉ this morning that closing the borders is not the solution to preventing the growth of the covid-19 coronavirus because they now know that the virus starts being transmitted before you get symptoms.

Surely that's exactly the reason to close borders as those infected don't know they are spreading it and why are Irish people limited to only being allowed to travel 2km from their home if travel doesn't spread the virus? That's a question Seán O Rourke didn't bother asking.

Former WHO director: Travel bans don't work. The virus has already spread through travel

Dr. Anthony Costello, Former Director at the World Health Organisation told Seán O'Rourke on RTÉ this morning that "all the experts" agree that travel bans don't work to stop the spread of Covid-19 because the virus has already spread through travel.

New Zealand which has a similar population and size to Ireland closed its borders to anyone who is not a citizen or resident on March the 19th.
The country has a reported 1,349 Covid-19 cases and 5 deaths.
Ireland is the only EU member state to have no restriction on immigration.
It currently has 10,647 Covid-19 cases and 365 deaths.

The World Health Organization blocked doctors from urging countries to impose border controls to stop the spread of coronavirus, it has been revealed.

While the organization was demanding countries impose zero border controls, it was also campaigning against the profiling of international travelers in order to prevent the “stigmatization” of Chinese people (hurt feelings).

It has now been revealed that medical experts who were urging countries to impose border controls were silenced.

“So the official meeting records say there was a divergence of views but they won’t actually go into detail about who was trying to block it. But there were doctors there who wanted to issue travel bans and the World Health Organization blocked it.”

The effort to silence medical professionals from urging countries to enact travel bans was made on January 30 during a meeting of WHO bureaucrats and health experts in Geneva, Switzerland.

German Lawyer Who Criticised Lockdown and Called for Protest Institutionalised.

Beate Bahner, German medical lawyer and prominent critic of Berlin’s coronavirus lockdown policies, has been committed to a psychiatric institution.

Bahner, a 25-year veteran in her profession who has won three cases in the Federal Constitutional Court, and written five books on German medical law, has issued a number of public statements decrying the Bundesregierung’s handling of the Covid19 pandemic.

For instance on 3rd April she published a press release branding nationwide lockdown measures "flagrantly unconstitutional, infringing to an unprecedented extent many of the fundamental rights of citizens". She argued the small minority of people at risk of serious harm in the event of contracting coronavirus would be far better protected by targeted measures based on the notion of personal responsibility.

Global citizenship at the heart of Europe: One of the ten aims in a joint policy document from Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael on a new government.

A joint policy document from Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael has been published which they say is aimed at charting a course for economic recovery in the aftermath of the Covid-19 crisis.

To achieve this it has set ten aims which it calls missions.

They are: reigniting and renewing the economy, universal healthcare, housing for all, a new social contract, a new green deal, a better quality of life for all, supporting young Ireland, opportunities through education and research, a shared island, at the heart of Europe: Global citizenship.

The Burkean's Irish Antifa Project: Dr Lucy Michael:

Dr Lucy Michael is an academic active in a variety of anti-racist NGOs and initiatives across Ireland. A self described expert on immigration and diversity, she holds a PhD in Criminology from Keele University.

Dr Michael has been an active contributor to a range of anti-racist organisations, among those the Open Society funded Irish Network Against Racism (INAR).

She now works for the International Organization for Migration, a UN affiliated organization headed up by an important member of the Portuguese Socialist Party.

Dr Michael promised to pass on the contact information of @IrishAntifa to the ‘Far-Right Observatory’, a seemingly informal grouping of progressive actors looking to suppress those suspected of being involved in right-leaning politics.

When asked about the risk of using violence Dr Michael replied that “I wouldn’t say no” but stressed the need to keep a broad front against the far right.
