A common hustle for regime insiders:
Gombeen man will snap up a derelict hotel which nobody wants except they've already winked on the deal for the State to dump a ton of asylum seekers in it once its purchased or rented out to them.
I remember this kip in Rosslare was put up on Daft. Within two weeks of the ad going up, an unnamed "guest house owner" had rented it out and the deal to stuff between 60 and 90 asylum seekers in it was announced in the Wexford People.
The Dept of Justice said they'd carry out renovations and bring the hotel back to working order as part of their deal.
Locals were fuming but the owner said he had no clue the guy he rented it to was going to sub-let it to the State for use as an asylum centre.
The deal was called off in the end because there was so much uproar, including from the owner.
There's so much public sympathy for the Ukrainians right now, that won't be possible so it's easy money.

"New owners"
Like I was saying above....
I see they also own the Riverside in Macroom.
That's the hotel they let African prostitutes use as a base of operations.
The NGO/media community weren't interested in that story...

A local woman from Macroom in Cork has released a phone call she made to gardaรญ asking them if they were aware that the Riverside Park Hotel on the Killarney Road, which is in use as an asylum centre since last year, is now a base for prostitutes.
"There is old men stopping outside the graveyard on the Killarney Road and the blacks are running across the road to have sex with them in their cars and then run back to the direct provision centre. This is lawless. This is absolutely disgusting."
"It's a bit ridiculous that our kids are being exposed to this uncivilised way of life inside in a town that we were born and reared, and they come in here and they think they can bend the rules to suit them, and they can take up this Sex Work Alliance. It's a disgrace, like....My eight year old daughter was exposed to it, like."

What to do with printed poems written by right-wingers? Manually redact every single issue with black marker!
At least, that's Icarus Magazine's solution anyway.

Icarus Redacted: Trinity Tries to Hide Print Edition After Burkean Prank | The Burkean
Burkean writers have been attentively scanning TCDโs skyscape for the surreptitious sight of smoke emerging from the Student Union offices this week as the Icarus editorial team tried to cover their tracks after last weekโs poetry prank. Sufficient to sayโฆ

Hope they at least got their Irish passports. Just as hotels are hitting the jackpot too.
>The โฌ1.7m purchase of the property in 2018 by a firm controlled by Paul Bowes and his daughter Triona Bowes had been backed by Chinese investors under the immigrant investor programme.
>The emergence of the Covid pandemic in early 2020 adversely impacted the hotel, which employed 37 people. Its turnover in 2020 was just under โฌ500,000.
>The immigrant investment scheme used to help fund the purchase of the hotel by Mr Bowes and his daughter enables foreign investors from outside the European Economic Area to secure residency in Ireland for an initial period of two years.
>The residency can be extended up to 10 years if certain criteria are met, and successful applicants and their families don't have to actually live in Ireland, but must visit once a year.
>Among the options for investors under the scheme is to invest at least โฌ1m across any number of Irish companies for a minimum of three years.

>The report drew attention to Irelandโs policy of allowing individuals to have a tax domicile, thereby avoiding tax payments on income earned in the country of residence. It also noted how participants were only obliged to reside in Ireland for one day a year, which means that someone can spend just five days in Ireland over a five-year period and become a citizen. Irish citizenship gave them rights to reside and travel freely around Europe.
>Very wealthy Chinese people have accounted for the vast majority of successful applicants, with 1,088 obtaining residency permits to date.
>Gardai are investigating claims of serious fraud in IIP schemes where funds earmarked for investment in approved projects were diverted elsewhere.
>Itโs understood the British government is concerned about the potential abuse of the IIP by the Chinese Communist Party, who may wish to use it to obtain EU residency rights for members of its military or intelligence services.
