Cork anti-lockdown protest.

"I march for my lovely next-door neighbour who I helped pull out of the river only a few weeks ago. My lovely neighbour who lost hope and couldn't see the point of living any more. I march for her."

The Burkean lad running in the student union elections for the position of editor at the University Times wants Trinity SU leaders to commit to handing over their prized student union digs to asylum swindlers to prove their dedication to ending direct provision 😂

Amhrán na bhFiann at the cork anti-lockdown protest today
‘For years, student unions have spearheaded opposition to Direct Provision. However, there is little point moralising about institutional racism from the luxury of SU-funded accommodation. As such, we believe it is time for action and that it is morally incumbent of TCDSU officials and others to stand by their principles and hand over their accommodation to asylum seekers.’

Interestingly, this reply made me do a double take.

It seems Google has changed the definition of ethnicity it displays.

An ethnic group is a body of people united by a common ancestral lineage which corresponds to a common culture and history, it comes from the ancient Greek word "Ethnos" which meant People/Tribe/Family/Race and was understood to be a people of "Common blood, language, and habits"

Ever the subversive Fintan O'Toole, editor at the anti-Irish Times.

There's a hyphen you should adopt, Fintan.

Previously Fintan wanted to change the national anthem as its militancy might upset the planters — 'can we not just have something about the scenery?'

Public urged to be on the lookout for invasive species.

>The crab has shown to have high fertility, highly aggressive behaviour and high survival rates outside its native range which might be why it has established and spread so quickly.

>Blue crab might negatively impact on other crab species by competing with them for space and resources such as food and as a result increase mortality and affect the distribution and dynamics of native crabs.

"Today was the first day I could talk properly since the gardaí kicked the head off me in the garda station."

"For my next trick, I will make a whole bunch of camera evidence from the garda station disappear because that's what happens when the evidence doesn't match the lies. The evidence disappears."

Caller Susan on 98FM explains how funerals are disrupted when they don't involve Travellers or non-Irish mourners under covid-19 regulations.

This was in reference to a Traveller funeral in Leitrim in the hometown of HSE chief Paul Reid on Thursday which was attended by an estimated crowd of 300, with some traveling from as far away as Britain.

Great call from Dermot on 98fm on selective-policing in Ireland.

"This is all down to selective policing and selective enforcement. The guards are well aware when these funerals are going to take place. If they came in from England, they came down from the north...there was no attempt to send them back."

"You have a hundred people coming out of a mosque in town and numerous phone calls to Kevin Street, and they always say "there were no breaches of Covid rules".

"You've a mass out in Hartstown being done online and a priest opens the back door for communion, and the guards are on him like a shot, but ten minutes down the road in Millennium Park, you've up to a hundred Roma men playing football on the pitches there."

The funeral of George Nkencho is taking place at the Sacred Heart Church in Huntstown tomorrow at 12 noon followed by interment at the Mulhuddart Cemetery. Organisers have requested 30 to 50 stewards to control the potential crowd despite funerals being limited to 10 mourners.
