Nigerian fraudsters are the prime suspects for the theft of an estimated €800,000 from hundreds of Bank of Ireland customers in recent months.

The gang, based in the Blanchardstown and Tallaght, is believed to have recruited dozens of students to participate in the scam by allowing their personal accounts to be used for a payment of about €400.

Liveline last week heard from dozens of victims who had lost between €500 and €10,000 after responding to bogus text messages purporting to come from Bank of Ireland. The bank has said that it will not compensate victims who provided their Pin codes to criminals.

Gardai are aware that similar gangs have begun paying foreign students to fly to Dublin to open student bank accounts to receive stolen cash. The students are instructed to withdraw the cash, or allow the gang to transfer the money to other accounts, often under threat of violence if they refuse.

More footage of the African gangs in Balbriggan has emerged. One local woman tweeted:

2 days in a row now we’ve had this behaviour in Balbriggan and nothing is being done about it. A house has burned to the ground and another is damaged. Time to do a clean up @GardaTraffic @HMcEntee @rtenews @VirginMediaNews @thejournal_ie

Aftermath of the fire in Blackbriggan. Guy is surprised the gardaí are ignoring the commotion being caused by members of the non-Irish community who likely played a role.

It's not worth their hassle. About a third of a garda's time is spent in court with mostly futile outcomes.

Fire service and Gardaí are there to clean up the mess but there's no desire from the top to fix the root of the problem.

That message seeps down from the govt to the courts to the people on the front line and the media through incentives.

The goal is only to obscure any negative publicity about migrants and intimidate anyone who voices a concern about the multicultural direction of the country.

Some TD or councillor will announce a new youth centre to feign a solution but Balbriggan will continue its demise. The smart people have already left, if they could.

A tour of African Snapchat during lockdown Ireland.

A study published by the UCLA Latino Policy and Politics Initiative in July said that Latino and Black residents of Los Angeles County and New York City are roughly twice as likely as white residents to die from COVID-19.

Absolutely pointless discussion on the Niall Boylan Show about Balbriggan.

The question keeps being asked "But why does Balbriggan have it so bad?"

It's a total mystery to everyone. The word African was not mentioned once.

The only unintentional based remark was when Niall said "It's always a minority that ruins it for everybody." 😜

Some public representative came on and did the usual call for more amenities, youth services etc as if that's the problem.

They always do this so they can place the blame on us, the host community for the problems Africans create.

Like children, Africans are absolved from all responsibility.

How can you love Ireland for its people and culture and also love Ireland for being "a multicultural country".

Also notice which one takes preference.

Anyway, she can think about that on the boat back home to Brazil where she can have all the multiculturalism she desires.

It's riddled with it.

Ireland wants to remain one of the safest countries in the world, thanks.
