🇨🇳🇺🇸 Chinese intelligence has breached email systems used by staff on powerful House committees including the China Committee, Foreign Affairs, Intelligence, and Armed Services panels as part of the Salt Typhoon cyber espionage campaign.

The intrusions, detected in December, targeted some of Congress’s most sensitive national security and foreign policy operations, though it remains unclear if lawmakers’ personal emails were accessed.

Salt Typhoon has been running for several years, allowing China’s Ministry of State Security to access unencrypted calls, texts, voicemails and emails of millions of Americans including senior U.S. officials.
