🪦 He was seen attending the funeral of his sister, Zarrin Ahmadinejad. Conservative Iranians who support the former President were also present, taking photos with him.

✍️ Ahmadinejad is a controversial figure in Iran, he was President during violently suppressed protests against the regime in 2009 and is constantly rejected by Ayatollah Khamenei every time he tries to rejoin politics, likely due to his criticism of the Supreme Leader, the Iranian government’s handling of domestic affairs (specifically the protests in 2018) and the worry that an Ahmadinejad Presidency would fracture Iranian society more than it already is.
