🇩🇪 Germany's dead two party system

✍️ Due to lack of happenings I decided to make a post about German politics, specifically about German polling numbers.

📊 West Germany and later on unified Germany was dominated by the CDU/CSU and SPD since the first post war elections in 1949.

💬 While other parties ofc did also compete in the elections their roles were always to be a junior coalition partner to either of the two parties in order to reach a majority.

⚠️ However these times seem to be over. Over the last week's/months the AFD has firmly established themselves as the most popular party in Germany over the CDU, while only 1-2% point most of the time they are consistently above the CDU in all of the polls.

📈 However there is another upcoming party climbing the polls, Die Linke (The Left). Die Linke from an all time polling low just last year has quickly risen to tied for 4th most popular party in Germany.

🥸 Currently in most polls The Left is tied with the Green party in % points and just a singular % point away from the SPD. Meanwhile the FDP and BSW which come directly after the Left even combined are less popular than them.

📣 If things continue like this The Left could realistically surpass the SPD and establish themselves as the third most popular party in Germany.

💥 If this happens the CDU, in second, would be flanked on both sides 1st and 3rd by two parties they consider too extreme and Radical to work with, as the CDU has a policy of non-cooperation on the national level towards the Left party, just like towards the AFD.

🫦 So if something were to happen in Germany ending in a new parliamentary election to be called it would be borderline impossible for the centre parties to form any functioning coalition excluding both extremist parties, The Left and AFD.

🤔 It seems after decades of centre left/right domination the days where the CDU and SPD dominated all of Germany are most definitely over

🇬🇧 Another figure from the recent Stabbing attack on a British train has been named, a hero that is

☄️ A worker of the LNER called Samir Zitouni immediately rushed to action when he noticed what was going on.

✍️ Samir shielded a young girl from the attacker, putting his own body on the line and got stabbed in the neck and head. However the young girl remained unharmed.

🙏 Samir is currently in the hospital and remains "critically unwell" but stable.

🆒 He's credited with saving multiple lives

✍️ All that for a Euro and 95 cents, what a steal
