🇺🇸 U.S. wants to turn Saildrone Into a Missile Platform After Iran Theft Attempts

Lockheed Martin (LMT.N), opens new tab is investing $50 million in sea drone maker Saildrone to help equip its biggest surveillance drones with missiles, marking the first time the long-distance autonomous ships will carry high-powered missiles aboard.

The weaponization plan announced on Wednesday comes as the Pentagon seeks to counter China's growing naval power in the Pacific and applies lessons learned from Ukraine's effective use of explosive-laden sea drones against Russian warships in the Black Sea.

Trump says that no strikes on Venezuela are planned.

In a letter to Putin, Maduro made multiple requests this month. U.S. Trump’s administration was targeting ships off the South American coast and rattling sabers in Washington. Venezuela needed Putin’s help.

The Venezuelan government, according to the documents, is also reaching out to China and Iran, soliciting military assistance and equipment to strengthen the country’s defenses. Maduro composed a letter to Xi Jinping seeking “expanded military cooperation” between their two countries to counter “the escalation between the U.S. and Venezuela.”
