Talks between Pakistan and Afghanistan have begun in Istanbul 🇹🇷, following the Doha ceasefire. Defence Minister Khawaja Asif confirmed the dialogue and admitted ties with Kabul are “very poor,” warning that if talks fail, Pakistan will wage open war against the Taliban regime to defend its people. He said the Doha round brought a short lull in cross-border attacks, but the agreement is still fragile.
🌍 Analysis:
Asif’s words mark a shift from diplomacy to deterrence. Islamabad’s patience is running out, the Istanbul talks are the final test of Kabul’s will to act against the TTP. Pakistan has signaled that peace remains possible, but only through action. If militancy continues, Pakistan’s next move will be decisive, not diplomatic.
