Zhi Dong Zhang, the man U.S. prosecutors describe as one of the world’s key fentanyl traffickers, is now in U.S. custody after a failed escape from Mexico.

Zhang is accused of coordinating the shipment of chemical precursors from China to Mexico’s Sinaloa and Jalisco cartels — the backbone of the fentanyl trade to U.S.

In July, he broke free from house arrest in Mexico, boarded a private jet to Cuba, and attempted to enter Russia. Russian authorities denied him entry and sent him back to Havana, where he was detained. Cuba later extradited him to Mexico, which handed him over to U.S. agents.

A British court has sentenced six men for carrying out a Wagner Group–ordered arson attack on a warehouse in East London that supplied humanitarian aid and Starlink equipment to Ukraine.

Dylan Earl, 21, who orchestrated the March 2024 attack under the direction of the Russian mercenary group, was sentenced to 23 years—17 in prison and six on extended license.

His accomplice, Jake Reeves, 24, was sentenced to 12 years. Four others—Nii Mensah, Jakeem Rose, Ugnius Asmena, and Ashton Evans—received sentences of between eight and ten years for aggravated arson and related offenses, Sky News wrote.

In a search of the ringleader’s home, police recovered a Russian flag, more than £20,000 in cash and cocaine with a street value of some £34,000.

Evidence on his phone revealed details of a cryptocurrency account holding more than £58,000 and images of bundles of cash estimated to total £175,000.
