Regarding the air defence, this is more like political theater than practical commitment.
How can they even think about supplying Syria with air defenses when Ukraine is hitting critical infrastructure on a daily basis? Iโm already seeing Russian Z-bloggers, influencers, and tg channels freaking out over these statements too.

Context
Cameroon is under a dictatorship led by Paul Biya, our dear Paul is 92 years old and has ruled Cameroon as president since 1982
However despite being a dictatorship Biya still somewhat tries to pretend that there is some semblance of democracy
And so Cameroon carries out "elections", these elections are not like North Korea where nobody competes against Biya but Biya simply rigs the vote every time
Anyways Cameroon carried out elections again on October 12th with several opposition politicians including former ally of Biya, Issa Tchiroma, facing off against the ancient Geezer
In Cameroon the official results are published very late after the elections took place, I assume in order to rig them better, this year the results will be announced October 26th
And the Cameroonian regime takes this very seriously with them reiterating before the elections that any independent publishing of results is high treason with only the regimes own election apparatus being allowed to publish the results.
However yesterday Issa Tchiroma declared himself the winner of said elections with the government saying A. "That's illegal" and B. "Only we can see the election results". Thus they reject his claim
However fellow opponent of Biya the opposition SDF party has recognized Issa Tchiroma as the victor of the elections
Due to a distrust of the government many people counted the votes in their polling stations themselves while recording it and Biya lost with an absolute landslide in all of these instances
With the election results not published yet it remains to be seen if Biya for once in his life will publish the actual results and recognize he lost or just display some fantasy numbers and declare himself winner again
If Biya does declare himself the winner there is a very real possibility that violence will break out with Cameroon facing not exactly the greatest standards of living under Biya to say the least
The recent success of protests led by the Youth in countries like Nepal and Madagascar makes the outbreak of violence just that more likely since many young people are likely inspired by these events
