⚡️🇱🇧🇮🇱 Beaufort Castle one of southern Lebanon’s most important historical landmarks, was destroyed after Israeli strikes hit the area. The nearly 900-year-old castle overlooks the Litani River and much of southern Lebanon, making it one of the region’s most strategic hilltop sites.

Originally built by Crusaders shortly after 1139, the fortress witnessed centuries of conflict involving Crusader, Ayyubid, Mamluk, Ottoman, and modern military forces. It was besieged by Saladin, later captured by the Mamluks, and became a major battleground during the Israeli invasion of Lebanon in 1982.

Recognized as one of the best-preserved medieval fortresses in the region and placed under enhanced cultural protection during recent conflicts, Despite its protected status and cultural significance, the site was attacked by the IDF in southern Lebanon.
