🇱🇧 🇱🇧 The Lebanese news station Al Jadeed has conducted a survey with 2000 people concerning current events.

🤓 I will adopt the Arab Barometer’s methodology and assume there is a ~3% error margin in this study. A perfect survey needs 2400 people for a margin error closer to 0%. 2000 isnt perfect but it’s still fairly accurate.

This is very useful to figure out what most people in Lebanon actually want instead of trying to make sense of the radioactive exclusion zone that is Lebanese social media (everyone claims to have the support of 99% of the population)

Here’s the numbers ⬇️

1- Responsibility for the current war:

32.9% blame Israel
32.8% blame Hezbollah
12.1% blame all sides

(21.2% is missing and al jadeed doesnt address it so i assume its people who just awnsered “i dont know” or “who are you and how did you get in my house”)

• Most Christians and Druze (50-61%) blame Hezbollah

• 57.7% of Shias blame Israel

• Sunnis are split (39.1% blame Hezbollah, 33% blame Israel)

2- Direct negotiations with Israel:

Maronites: 78% support
Orthodox Christians: 73.6% support
Druze: 72% support
Shias: 92.9% oppose
Sunnis: Once again split (54.4% in favor, 38% opposed)

3- Peace agreement with Israel:

Druze: 84.2% support
Maronites: 76.5% support
Orthodox Christians: 72.2% support
Shiites: 92.1% opposed
Sunnis: Split again (51.6% support, 44.1% opposed)

4- Direct meeting between the Lebanese President/ Prime minister and Israeli Prime Minister:

50% opposed, 50% support

Druze: 82% support
Maronites: 71.8% support
Orthodox christians: 66.7% support
Shias: 93.2% opposed
Sunnis: 52.7% opposed, 39.4% support

5- Normalization and embassy:

Al Jadeed says support for normalization rose from 13.2% in 2025 to 30.4% in May 2026. A majority of 59.3% still oppose it

A minority of 20.9% support opening an Israeli embassy in Beirut, 66.6% are opposed.

6- Hezbollah’s weapons:

58.2% support disarming Hezbollah
34.2% oppose it
7.3% are neutral

Everyone except the shias overwhelmingly supports disarmament (70% of sunnis and druzes and ~80-90% of Christians). Shias overwhelmingly oppose it at 87.5%)

🇷🇴🇪🇪— A Romanian F-16 serving with NATO’s Baltic Air Policing mission in Lithuania successfully intercepted and shot down an unidentified drone this morning over Central Estonia.

🇷🇺For the first time, a member of the Russian State Duma has openly called for an end to the war as soon as possible.

🚩Renat Suleimanov, a deputy from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF), pointed out that the so-called “special military operation” has already lasted longer than WW2.

He emphasized that the Russian economy simply cannot withstand a further prolongation of the war:
“Therefore, the swiftest possible conclusion of the special military operation is simply necessary.”

In April 2022, Suleimanov stated that negotiations with the “Kyiv regime” should take place exclusively on terms of surrender. But something went wrong. But what? 🤔

🇺🇸🇿🇦— The Trump admin is moving towards a process of funneling in more than 10,000 White South Africans under the continued guise of a “White Genocide.” As well as “emergency refugees situation” within the argument that their “status as Afrikaners has left them open to discrimination and persecution at home.”

The State Department told Congress on Monday that it will admit up to 17,500 Afrikaners. a group of white South Africans descended mainly from Dutch settlers — as refugees through the fiscal year that ends in September. The administration initially indicated that it would only admit up to 7,500, mostly Afrikaners, in that time period, but said Monday that “unforeseen developments in South Africa created an emergency refugee situation.”

This move is set to cost more than 100 million dollars in taxpayer money.

🇺🇸🇺🇦The United States is seeking technology transfers and intellectual property rights from Ukraine as part of a drone deal awaiting approval at the highest political level, according to Bloomberg

🙏The Pentagon has requested testing of a range of Ukrainian defense products, including drones and electronic warfare systems.

😬Ukraine claims that its weapons have already undergone extensive combat testing, but Washington wants to evaluate them on its own territory before moving forward.

It appears the U.S. is also interested in gaining access to critical technologies and intellectual property that would allow it to replicate this equipment. A draft letter of intent requesting the tests has already been sent to Kyiv.
