This basically could be trolling but also it front runs the Russian ceasefire. Putin picked May 8–9, the dates that benefit him for the parade.

Zelensky says: fine, but let's start now. May 5–6 onwards. This immediately reframes who is the peace-seeker and who is stalling.

It creates a 2-3 day testing window before the parade. If Russia keeps striking between May 6 and May 8, Ukraine has clean justification to say "you broke the ceasefire first" and possibly create disruptions over Moscow in the time of the parade.
