Pre 2023, Bab al-Mandeb strait carried:
- 14% of all global maritime trade
- 30% of the world’s container shipping
- 12% of seaborne oil (~8.8M barrels/day)
- 8% of global LNG trade
Following the Houthis closure of the straight, trade dropped by over 50% in the arena.
If the closing of the Red Sea were to be compounded with the closure of the Straight of Hormuz this would amount to approximately:
- Roughly 35% of all seaborne oil trade
- Roughly 28% of global LNG trade
- 20% of the world’s daily oil consumption
-A huge share of container and general cargo trade

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) posted an interesting update on X claiming a USAF F-16 landing after a combat sortie. However, this is highly doubtful, as the aircraft is carrying an inert air-to-air "AIM-120 AMRAAM CATM missile".
Inert training ordnance is typically marked with blue stripes, indicating it cannot be fired or used in combat.

- Al-Manar Journalists Ali Shoeib and Fatima Ftouni

- I’ve lost track of how many paramedics
- Iranian diplomats + IRGC personnel
- Dozens Shia civilians (this category of civilians routinely considered by the IDF as politically “acceptable” collateral)
