👀Recently, pictures like this have been popping up online in pro-Russian circles, showing what appears to be the flag of a so-called “People’s Republic of Narva”, closely modeled after the flags of the so-called “Luhansk People’s Republic” and the “Donetsk People’s Republic.”

❗️The worrying thing? Narva is an Estonian town on the Russian border, mostly inhabited by a Russian-speaking population, and irregular Russian forces have been sighted in close vicinity for years.

🇪🇪

Someone in Estonia (a NATO country, by the way) should probably keep an eye on that.

🇷🇺 While Narva is indeed neary entirely inhabited by Russians it does not meet the material or social conditions for any type of LPR/DPR situation

💬 If anything a Crimea type quick troop insertion and immediate annexation would be more likely due to the close geographic proximity, although that won't happen either ofc

🥸 Anyways there hasn't been any ethnic unrest in Estonia since the Bronze Night nearly two decades ago and while most Estonians and Russians aren't exactly best friends there is no wide spread heavy ethnic tensions since then.

🤔 Something I also find interesting is calling it Narva People's Republic. Narva is part of the state of Ida Virumaa (East Virumaa) and not even it's capital either, although it is the biggest city. So it would be like calling the Crimean people's republic the Simferopol people's republic.

🇪🇪 Also I can reassure you that the Estonian security and intelligence services have basically exclusively focused on Russia and their influence in Estonia for the past 30+ years and are working daily on combating it

👀 But yeah it's nonsense larp/psyops by Russia to try and sow a bit of fear, everything is fine nothing is happening
