Some shenanigans from Czechia:

Senate president Vystrčil took army C-295M transport plane to Milan paraolympics. Czech PM Babiš and rest of his government heavily criticized the move as some of army C-295s were involved in repatriations of citizens for the Gulf.

Senate president being from ODS (in EU it's ECR) and PM being from ANO (Patriots).

Senate president made a speech saying that this trip was approved in December and before the actual trip he confirmed that the aircraft was not needed in the repatriations flights and the aircraft was retured to Czechia in matter of hours.

This was of course ignored by the PM and kept using Vystrčil as a scapegoat for his own governments incompetence and as a revage he cancelled the return trip forcing Vystrčil and companions flying commercial.

Czech army had to make statement that all what Vystrčil said was true. Which was promptly ignored and criticised by the government.

Some more political logic from Czechia:

Parties that spent years warning that Europe is becoming dangerously weak and that national sovereignty must be defended are now in government — while criticizing defence spending increases proposed earlier.

Politicians from ANO (Patriots), SPD(ESN) and AUTO regularly talk about security threats and the need for a stronger state. At the same time, they criticize higher military budgets and question plans to modernize the Czech Armed Forces.

Meanwhile, the former governing parties — ODS (ECR), TOP 09 (EPP), KDU-ČSL (EPP), STAN (EPP) and the Czech Pirate Party (Greens/EFA) — now in opposition, continue arguing for maintaining or increasing defence spending in response to the security situation in Europe.

The result is a familiar political paradox: everyone agrees security is important, but once responsibility for the state budget changes hands, so do many arguments about defence spending.

Czech defense spending was in:
2015 1% of GDP,
2022 1.5% of GDP
2024 2%
For 2026 it was supposed to be 2,35%.

All of the raises to defence budget were while current opposition was in power.
Under Babiš now the plan is to fix defense budget to 2% of GDP.

Czech Armed Forces should have budget of ~3,7% GDP to fully meet both national and NATO capability targets.

G7 finance ministers will hold an emergency meeting today on oil prices - looking likely to start releasing some strategic oil reserves - c. 1.2 billion barrels - despite trump saying last week that wouldn't happen

These oil reserves are estimated to be equivalent to about a month's use by G7 countries, but about 2/3s are held by the US and Japan.

It should also be noted china has an estimated 1.1-1.4bn barrels held in it's strategic reserve, representing about 140 days use

Black rain falls over Tehran, Iran🇮🇷 after US-Israeli🇺🇸🇮🇱 strikes on oil facilities. 🛢️💥

Personal opinion, i am totally unbiased against both sides, but I'll never understand the point of these strikes if the goal is a regime change. These will convince the Iranian people to keep up the fight, since these attacks basically against them, not against their leaders.

This is going to be a long ass war, where we the "small" people will pay the price.

The US🇺🇸 was not ready for this war, or atleast for a long war. Same goes for the Arab nations in the Gulf, which took the heaviest hits from Iran🇮🇷. The only military power ready was the Israeli🇮🇱, but without proper US🇺🇸 support and long term war efforts, beating Iran🇮🇷 or atleast forcing a regime change will be really difficult.

Iran is huge, roughly 91.4 million total population, and the terrain makes it almost Afghanistan 2.0 for any boots on the ground operation.

Time works against the US-Israeli coalition, the longer this war goes the more resilient the Iranians get. However, the Iranian leadership might just say they had enough and capitulate.

Either the US got dragged into this war without proper preparation and planning, or they under-estimated their opponent once again.
