🇷🇺🇩🇪German far-right politician Jörg Dornau, an MP in the Saxony parliament from the AfD party, has been accused of using political prisoners as cheap labour on his onion farm in Belarus.

According to former detainees and prison watchdogs, around 30 political prisoners were made to work on the farm in early 2024, earning about 4 euro a day. Many had been jailed for minor acts of dissent, such as liking social media posts critical of the Belarusian regime.

The farm is reportedly linked to a company Dornau set up in Belarus in 2020, shortly after mass protests against President Aleksandr Lukashenko. Dornau has not responded to the allegations. AfD officials have largely declined to comment, with some party members dismissing the claims as a smear campaign.

The party also retained Petr Bystron, another MEP, who is being investigated by German police and prosecutors on suspicion of money laundering and corruption. He is suspected of taking funds from the Kremlin in exchange for spouting Russian propaganda. Bystron denies any wrongdoing.

In December 2024, Kushner revealed that he had raised an additional $1.5bn for Affinity Partners from investment funds controlled by Qatari and UAE government officials. In a podcast interview, Kushner said he had “pre-emptively tried to avoid any conflict” by securing new funding from his existing investors before Trump won the presidential election.

The added funds brought the firm’s total assets to $4.8bn by the end of last year, nearly 99% of it from foreign sources. The increase in management fees raked in by Affinity has also boosted Kushner’s personal wealth, and turned him into a billionaire.
